Break Glass A RC?
I am not sure if I am imagining this or not but can breaking glass be used as a reality check? I thought I saw this mentioned by someone in a thread about reality checks people used but now I can not find it.
Only came to the forum yesterday, read very little, did not even know what lucid dreaming was until yesterday, had no intention of trying it but last night while in a dream I was sitting in the passenger seat of a car and tried to break the car window by tapping it with my fist. Somehow this seems to have registered with me as a RC when I woke up, sadly though I was too afraid to hit it too hard in fear of it breaking; guessing it is not a good method to use because of this? Or is not even a method at all?

The thing you need to remember is that reality checks are not something you just do when you are dreaming. They are part of your everyday life. So are you really going to want to be breaking glass every time you think you may be dreaming? That is going to become a very expensive and antisocial way to become a lucid dreamer!

As spaceexplorer said, reality checks are here to be practiced during waking life, and i don't think what you are talking about will work out... especially considering that there are more reliable and simple reality checks around. :-?
Though remember that the point of reality check is not an physical action, but questioning reality and awareness practice, i suggest checking out this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/dild-gab/1...ods-dilds.html , it contains a list of most used reality checks as well. ;)

If you are wrong about it being a dream, you will not just have broken a car window in real life, but also will likely have a bloody fist. Not worth it in my opinion. Plus, what if you are dreaming and there is no glass around. Also you could very realistically break a car window in a dream maybe, and then you will have a no lucid dream that may involve you getting arrested or running around with a bloody hand.

Haha, thanks for the responses, quite funny and weird, I guess there is quite a bit weird about this subject.
It seems strange that I somehow associated this with a RC and thought I read it on the forum somewhere, I guess somehow my subconscious associated this with trying to RC the dream. One detail about it though may explain the method, the intention and expectation at the time seemed to be that the window would shatter from a very light tap, I guess proving it was a dream. Of course I had no intention of any of this which all seems very strange to me.
Anyway of course there are much better methods than this, otherwise you would need a car window every night
