So I have been trying Puffin's SAT to get lucid for about three weeks. For the first two weeks I followed the example as best as I could, randomly becoming aware and doing comprehensive check of my surroundings, physics, and using reality checks. However, not once in these weeks has my dream self even considered doing anything like what I just described. So my question is: how long did/does it take for these actions to bleed into your dreams?
My understanding is that is different for each person and also can depend on how immersed you are into the action that you are looking to see carry over. I have done things very actively IRL and that action bled over into my dream the same night (one example I recall was a lucid, the other example off the top of my head did not lead to lucidity). Other things can take weeks or a month or possibly more.
Are you also using WBTB or some other way to help nudge along your work with SAT? I primary use awareness, reverse reality checks, reality checks and SSILD (a relatively easy WBTB method that doesn't require staying up long).
Honestly I think that things that involve day residue depend on how good the person is at dream incubation. So if you have practiced it in the past it will be easier to get whatever thoughts you want in a dream. Like from SAT, ADA, or just plain reality checks. Using the same thought patterns that you use when incubating a dream will get it in there quicker.
Like everyone else said, it varies from person to person, but keep practicing and think positive, it will happen eventually! :)
Also there's there is not as much points in actions, it's awareness that makes us lucid, not actions, and since you are working on awareness it's all good. ;)
