At a loose end!!!
Hi all.
i am new in here and im just looking for a little advice and maybe some answers.
I am literally at my wits end.most nights id say 4 out of the 7 days i have almost the same dream.
as im not quite aware of what lucid dreaming is i will explain my dream
it always starts with me waking up in my own bed and i always glance at my bedroom door.when it first started my hall light was switched off and i would get up to go look at why the light was off as its always on at bed time.
anyway as i said i would get up to go look and when i get to the light switch something bad would always happen.like i would here really loud noises that would scare the shit out of me or bedroom doors would start slamming.it would always be really freaky stuff.
after a while i would have the same dream but would realise i was dreaming when id see that the hall light was switched off.i would then get back into my bed and start screaming really loud to knowingly wake myself up.
this happened for a while and sometimes the scenarios would be different, like my dead mother would be laid in my bed and we would chat.
i came to realise that if the hall light was off i would be dreaming.
just recently though these dreams have started to become scary again and its getting hard sometimes to wake myself up.i get so scared and when im screaming to wake myself up nothing comes out and it seems to take ages to wake up.
please someone can you give me a little advice as to what to do because its getting to the point where i dont want to sleep..
tired regards emma xxx

I wish I could help you, but I'm not an experienced Lucid Dreamer yet. That said, it sounds like what you need to work on is dream control; it seems you are becoming aware you are in a dream, which is great! LDs are sometimes used to treat night terrors. There is a section for dream control on this forum, you should read through it and maybe that will help: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...-tutorial.html
If you can get lucid again, you might try not to control the dream at all, but instead to try and find out why you are having the dream in the first place. If you find yourself lucid again, I would recommend reminding yourself that nothing can hurt you, it is just a dream. Then you might ask your dream why you are seeing the images before you, or a similar question. Perhaps even ask "why am I having this dream?" Because it sounds like your subconscious mind is trying to communicate something to you, to give you some sort of insight about yourself or your feelings or maybe your life in general.
So, you can either read through the stuff on dream control, and then take command of your dream next time it comes around (providing you keep getting lucid), OR you could confront it while lucid. My thought would be that if you confront it and figure out why you are having these dreams in the first place, they might stop.

Real Nightmare
With your light always on at bed time, you are scared something chronic in life about something.
Normally only kids need the light on. So you are scared of some imaginary monster, unless it is a real experience, or a past one haunting you. You must know what, unless suppressed memory.
Always glancing at your bedroom door might be a worry, a sign.
When you turn on the light, in your mind because you are in darkness regarding this, something bad would always happen. So that sounds like what did happen or what you fear will, maybe again.
It sounds like you might be screaming really loud to wake yourself up from the nightmare in reality.
Sometimes you may be talking with your mom in your mind, for advice or help.
Can it be the loss of her causing this?
How long have you been dreaming like this? What is the real nightmare?
