An exhausted topic: My experience with REM Atonia

i literally just learned that one could be fully aware while dreaming, so cope with me if i sound a bit naiive on the matter. Earlier today i watched a video on yotube about lucid dreaming and immediately began reserching the steps on attaining lucidity and found this site. Even though i have neither had a lucid dream or even attempted any techniques to having a lucid dream, ive had several experiences with temporary paralysis during the REM Atonia period when i thought to be awake although im still not entirely sure. I did read the admins post about the misconseptions regarding the cooreletion between "SP" and lucid dreaming but it didnt answwer all of my questions. When i do experience temporary paralysis due to the REM Atonia, it is usually accompanied with absolutely terrifying hallucinations of monsterlike people approaching me, making this buzzing sound. Not only am i unable to move, I also cannot decipher what happened before or after the incident or if i was in a dream or iff the whole experience is a result of waking up or falling asleep from a dream. IS THERE ANY WAY TO BECOME STOIC TOT THIS AND EVENTUALLY FALL INTO A LUCID STATE FROM THERE? i really want to get to the bottom of this and begin the "mind awake body asleep" state on consciouness.

It is completely normal and common for peple to experience what you just mentioned. Staying aware in REM atonia can be quite disorientating what with the sensations and possible hallucinations, especially if you have a wild imagination. What you're asking is basically "how to WILD". Wild is Wake-Induced Lucid Dream. It is when you go from a waking state to the dream directly without any lapse of consciousness in between. The transition between those two states is most usually what is associated with those hallucinatory and sensational phase. The reason I say 'most usually' is that some people may not notice the transition, perhaps because they have learned to focus deeply on the dream itself that they override the fear and emotions that could come along with the transitional phase and its sensations.

I guess the first step is to practice convincing yourself that it's all okay when it's happening, that you're safe and all the emotions and sensations you feel are just magnified in your mind. I mean I know this sounds pretty basic and obvious, but trust me, it's completely hard to convince yourself this while it is actually happening.
