I am kind of confused.

I can't tell if I was lucid dreaming or dreaming about lucid dreaming. It started with me in the middle of a street, which I think is weird. I immediately thought it was a dream, and remembered to check my watch, it had black script spinning in a circle vertically out of the watch. I walked to my house looking for someone to talk to. I found someone, talked to him, took a box and walked away. He followed me demanding the box back. He turned to a dragon looking thing, and then I think it went non-lucid, turning in to a story about something or another.

But, when I woke up, it did not "remember" like I thought a lucid dream would, it remembered like a normal dream, but during it it felt like I had control. This has happened two or three times now, and was wondering if I have had a success yet.

I suspect it was a low awareness and low control lucid, but ultimately only you can know for sure whether you were really there consciously and really knew that it was a dream. Lucid dreaming does not require a lot of awareness but it does require at least a minimum amount of knowing that you are in a dream, and you are the one knowing it (not a dream character). Even if it was a borderline lucid dream, it is a very good sign. Hopefully you will have better lucid dreams soon.

I remember my first few lucid dreams ever were pretty pathetic. They went something like: oh, I am floating. That means this is a dream. But I could float even if I were awake. And then I would just continue to float. And when I woke up, I discovered that no, I could not float while awake. I don't remember any more how many such dreams I had before I had a more decent lucid, but once I did have a decent lucid, I discovered that it was totally worth the effort of getting there.

For now, I would suggest that you reward your mind and pat it on the back for a job well done even for those early efforts. Encourage yourself.

Good job! Let's call it your first few lucids. I agree with everything JoannaB said. It can be lucid and still be very low grade as far as your awareness and understanding. It is new to your brain. Worst case you never honestly had awareness and just watched yourself go "hey I am dreaming." But, if that is the case, it is getting so close to actual lucidity that you should be excited. We all start with pathetic LDs that last a few seconds or fail to live up to our hopes, but then we improve. If I were you I would count that last one, and just plan on having more complete and rewarding LDs in the near future.
