When will i ever attain my first Ever Lucidity?

hi guys. im a 30 year old guy. mental disabled(cognitive disablity) and but anyways...I used to practice dream recall with dream journal like 2 years ago and i did it for a few months . My recall was getting great , i kinda got some snippets of Lucidity but not relaly full lucidity.

Like i remember in one dream i went "Hey this is a dream" but i couldn't really feel it much. i also have had vivid nightmares that feel like i'm there to be killed or whatever with vivid fear. But i can't realize that i'm dreaming for some reason.

What does it take to achieve lucidity? Do i have to be all day long during my wake life doing Reality checks like crazy? I do some reality checks, but just like little bit like just 5 minutes a day doing reality checks looking at my hands. But that never transfers into the dream world. so i never realize that i'm dreaming.


So do i have to do this:
1. Reality checks all day long like crazy even talking to myself
2. nonstop saying mantras for 2 hours or more when i'm about to sleep?

First of all, if you realized that you were dreaming in that first dream you mentioned, then that was a lucid dream.

Anyway, it's very important that you have a great dream recall, since if you rarely remember your dreams then you might actually forget any lucid dreams you may have had.
So your first priority should be to write down or voice record your dreams in the mornings, then analyze them later and see if they have something in common, which will make it easier for you to recognize them as dreams later.

Also, the trick to becoming lucid in dreams is to develop a questioning attitude to your surroundings.
For example, whenever you are awake, try to ask yourself why you can be so sure that you are awake.
What exactly is it that tells you with absolute certainty that you are in waking life at that point?
Dreams can feel just as realistic as waking life while you are in them (in fact, this last night I had a dream where I was like "if I were dreaming now I would be able to run super-fast along this road, I will try that next time I am dreaming!" :cheeky:), so try to test if you can do something impossible, like jumping really high or walking through a wall for example, and preferably make several tests.
Now obviously you don't want to do those sorts of reality checks in front of people, so if you are in public you might want to do more discrete mental reality checks instead, like asking yourself how you got there, why you are there etc, and then find an answer to those questions.

Remember to take these reality checks seriously!
You shouldn't do them "just because you have to", you should do them because you honestly want to make sure that you are awake.
However, only do these types of reality checks if you are able to tell the difference between life and dreams.
