WILD TIPS? Where am i going wrong?

I am 15 years old ( don't know if that matters ) and im in my Christmas break for 2 weeks so i need to successfully perform a WILD before the end of the break. I go to bed at 12 every night and i am in asleep by probably 12 30. My alarm is set for 4 30 to wake me up in the night and i stay up till 5 then i attempt a WILD, however i cant even get to sleep paralysis and i dont really feel tired even though my body is very loose and groggy. Any tips or pointers to help me to achieve my second ever Lucid Dream? Also any good relaxation techniques would be great thanks!

So when i wake up i dont turn on the light and i have an en suite toilet so i dont turn on any lights and i go to the toilet. My phone brightness is turned all the way down so i will read through bookmarked lucid dreaming websites/forums. Also i will read through my dream journal with my phone light shining on the book. Is there anything that could entertain me for half an hour without making me too alert?????

When i try to WILD: I go back to bed half an hour after waking up and then i will lay in my bed on my back with 3 pillows stacked, so my head is higher than the rest of my body. Next i lay completely still for roughly 15 mins and my body is already feeling tingly, at this time i start to get random twitches i just look into the blackness of my eyelids and do not think about anything and try to have a blank mind. After about 20 mins if nothing has happened then i will ultimately give up and go to sleep.

P.S I remembered 4 of my dreams last night, is that a good amount?

Also I'm not a deep sleeper, however i don't recall naturally waking up in the night. I used to like last year but not anymore.

I'm also new to WILDING but a couple of things you wrote caught my attention.

Firstly, trying to experience sleep paralysis or the "noise" as a step in the WILD process might be leading you astray. Many experienced dreamers view SP and noise more as distractions than stepping stones. Personally, I've had successful WILDS in which neither came into play.

Secondly, "the dive" into a WILD, which is what you wrote about, is just one step in the process. My not-so-educated guess is that your prep and timing are off.

So, You are using a WBTB method to induce WILDs. That part, in my opinion, you couldn't have done any better.

However, With using WBTB, you need to find the golden time to wake up and go back to bed. Why is this? In your sleep, You go through different stages of sleep. 4, To be exact. Each stage consists of NREM or non-Rapid Eye Movement sleep. During the deep stages of NREM sleep, the body repairs and regenerates tissues, builds bone and muscle, and appears to strengthen the immune system. During sleep, the body cycles between non-REM and REM sleep. Typically, people begin the sleep cycle with a period of non-REM sleep followed by a very short period of REM sleep.

Dreams generally occur in the REM stage of sleep. So, what I like to do, is try and wake up near a time (15-20mins) before the time that I would regularly be going into a REM stage. This knowledge is only attainable through experimenting with WBTB, and trying to find the time you are consistently going into an REM stage. Once you've found the golden time, it will become much easier to induce your lucid dream through a WILD.

When attempting to WILD, I would suggest that you don't focus on the blackness of your eyelids. For that is basically just staring at a wall waiting for it to tell you something. (In reality, it usually wont :P) Instead, focus on the phosphenes or; "The lights you see while in the dark when pushing on the back of your eyelids". Allow your body to fall back to sleep, and your mind as well. BUT Don't forget your aiming to WILD, So don't loose conciousness!!! Simply allow your conciousness to remain aware of the fact the body is falling asleep, and, you are slowly drifting into your mind while it is falling asleep, fully concious and fully in control.

Okay thanks i think i know where I'm going wrong now. By the way when my alarm woke me up this morning at 6 00 am i was in the middle of a dream so is this a REM stage for me if i go to bed at 12 every night and how long do REM periods last?
