Has anybody else been slightly frustrated when fiction/films/shows/etc. have dreams and the characters are all confused as to whether or not they're in a dream? I keep yelling-"Do a RC! a RC danggit!" Then they'd be sure! oh well. I keep thinking, if it was almost any of the people on this forum, they'd know what to do.

I'm currently reading book 5. You definitely want to start with first book. I'm not sure it has much to do with LD at all but it's all very dream like I guess.
Side note: If you like fantasy books you will love this one. IMO it's the best series around.

Just wanted to mention, watch the SUBBED version of SWORD ART ONLINE, much better than the dubbed.
Watch them at watchcartoononline. I think.

Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath by H.P. Lovecraft. A lot of people don't like it but it's my favorite among his works

I recently read "The three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch" by Philip K. Dick and it constantly reminded me of lucid dreaming. In my opinion it's one of his best books and I guess that a lot of ideas for Inception were actually taken from his book. In the book they are using some kind of drug to achieve a hallucinating/dreaming state, but the description of this state resembles lucid dreaming a lot.

I'm quite a Lovecraft fan, and a fan of many of these older authors, but I don't think I have read this. Will have to change that.

      H.G. Wells - The Stolen Body (1898)

Make sure you read Celephais after, truly one of his hidden gems. But it's best read after Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath (even though it was written earlier).

Any specific TV show episodes you guys can recommend related to dreams, lucid dreaming or even insomnia ? I'm going to start a collection of TV programs related to lucid dreaming specifically, but they can also be about dreaming or even insomnia as well. For example the episode of 'Fringe' called 'Dream Logic' is definitely worth watching, very cool episode! Here is a great description of this episode about the stealing of dreams :

i didn't read all the replies but i do have one suggestion if it hasn't been mentioned before, check out Anamnesis. it was supposed to just be a short 20 something minute film but they teamed up with another independent production and have already made the first 5 episodes of what looks to be an epic web series on lucid dreaming. from what i have seen is is a very accurate representation of lucid dreaming and i bet it'll only get better. it is specifically about lucid dreaming and looks like it will have some really cool plots and storylines. your right there is a serious lack of any truly accurate lucid dreaming fiction. Anamnesis looks very promising, you'll just have to be patient until they start releasing episodes but it looks to be well worth it. also support them if you can, if not thats ok but the more people donating i think the better. It'll help them make more episodes in the future and keep it going. anyways here is the full short film they have made which the series will be based on.

Thank you Moonflower for putting that video up! That was awesome! I haven't seen anything good lately for short film. If I had the money I would totally be throwing a bit of dough their way. I really hope they can get the money together! I'll definitely show this to some friends. WOW. Good find.

Wow no one mentioned What Dreams May Come. Robin Williams is great in this and it dabbles in awareness and what a lucid dream could be like.

^^ Actually, it was on the list that OP had originally linked to, but the link was removed; I guess that gives us an excuse to start lists all over again?

If we did, What Dreams May Come would definitely be at the top of my movie list!

Yes, apparently some types of website links are forbidden here. I thought I would post what movies were on that list for your viewing pleasure again. Some people gave me some other fantastic movies that were not on the list however and I hope people continue to find some more for me, and others here, to watch. Anyway here were the lucid dreaming , and movies that share relation to the subject of lucid dreaming, that were on that list:

      Inception (2010)
      Waking Life ( 2001)
      Vanilla Sky (2001)
      The Science of Sleep(2006)
      Paprika (2006)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind(2004)
      Avatar(2009)
      What Dreams May Come(1998)
      The Good Night (2007)
      The Matrix (1999)
      The Lovely Bones(2010)
      Alice in Wonderland ( 2010)
      Donnie Darko
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009)
      Being John Malkovich (1999)
      Pan's Labyrinth (2006)
      Source Code(2011)
      MirrorMask (2005)
      Total Recall ( 2012)
      The Animatrix (2003)

I enjoy the people that posted related fiction, television and internet programming. Thumbs up guys! Thanks again :-)

I love the Stargate's view on the matter. I was so disappointed that Stargate Universe got cancelled. I thought it was the best of the series. I saw the ship as an analogy for the mind, and I would have loved to see where they went with it.

Great thread - a lot I didn't know about in here!
Maybe I missed it - but did somebody mention "The Cell"?
It is not directly about lucid dreaming - but very much on topic anyway in my view.

One of the greatest movie optics I saw up to now - you got to have good nerves though - the inner workings getting explored are not exactly pretty.
It's about a therapist going into the dreams of a psycho-killer to find out, where his latest victim is hidden and dying.
      Enjoy the trip!

Edit: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - that was very nice - enjoyed it!!
Maybe I try out that walking on little clouds thing one day..

This is not only so with LD - that's classical bad film-making in my eyes - characters so idiotic like nobody irl would be - esp. when it comes to horror-movies.

I'm actually writing a fictional novel based entirely around lucid dreaming and shared lucid dreaming. Had to put in a few fictional twists to how it works (for plot reasons), but I saw this thread and figured you might be interested in giving it a read, strangedream! It's basically a lucid dreaming mystery story dealing with a group of shared dreamers.
Check it out if you're interested!

Just watched a really interesting film. It is not about lucid dreaming but the topic is related to the human mind and dream-like state. It's called The Congress (2013). Give it a shot guys, it's kinda mind-blowing.

Uuups - I have missed that! Interesting - I did like The Cell as well (see above) - but like with The Matrix - I thought perfect topics, but I would have done it quit to very differently. So then I'll look our for Dreamscape!
