New to LD - can it help me get back to where I want to be?

My name is jack and I stumbled across this site as I have insomnia. I recently lost my cocker spaniel to cancer. Xmas Eve to be precise, I also had an epileptic seizure the day before. My Xmas has been awful and has left me very depressed and I have just started getting insomnia.

The reason I have joined this forum and not some depression forum is because I have a vivid imagination that Might help me lucid dream? I just want to spend time with my dog again. My friend recommended lucid dreaming to me as he does it a lot and that I should start keeping a dream diary which I have started to do.

LD is something I'm very interested in and I look forward to talking to other members about it. Hopefully it could help with my epilepsy, who knows? :)

I'm no expert, but there may be a possibility that your epileptic symptoms will lessen(again, this is just from the fact that Lucid Dreaming does that kind of thing, I have no experience on the subject). On the other hand, you missing your dog WILL be relieved when you do Lucid Dream. I mean, he's literally there! Anything you want to say to him is possible. Anything you want to do alongside him is possible. Also, Lucid Dreaming will be made significantly more exciting(especially at first) because of your vivid imagination. Good luck!

I have started keeping a DD, over the duration of 8 hours I had 7 or 8 separate dreams. Several I linked to different things I was thinking about just before I went to bed. Also writing the dreams down lead me to remember previous dreams I've had before. Can you explain that?

Well, I can try...So, 1.) Perhaps your enthusiasm got you to have such good recall, or the fact that you paid attention to your dreams last night. 2.) We often dream about what we think about just before falling asleep. You can use this to do Dream Incubation. Dream Incubation is affecting the content of your dreams by using waking life methods such as a mantra. I guess it's just an easy place to start a dream from for the brain. 3.) I actually know this one. One of the reasons dreams are so easy to forget is that we have nothing to connect them to. Main point in mind is babies. They taste, touch, smell, see, and hear every object in the vicinity. That's how we can say, "That tastes like wood," etc. Once you can connect a dream to another thing(perhaps another dream) then you are remembering better.

Last night just before I entered sleep I was seeing images of random things a different one every second. Like a car then a bar then a knife, just one thing after another. I had four dreams that I listed but I'm trying to work out which is best for me WILD or DILD. I find that if I think about a certain thing again and again and again before I sleep that sometimes it is in my dream. Is that wild or DILD? I've started my diary and note. The time I wake from my dream. This is amazing I can't believe I've only just heard of it :) bring on the LD's :)

It is Dream Incubation, but I guess that is a branch of MILD, actually.
