My Mind is playing tricks on me!

      Hi all,

so I just recently started to put my mind to this subject again. I started my dream journal, at first I only remembered snippets, then a couple of days ago after watching Inception for the second time, I meditated to a video I found on YouTube. I drifted of to sleep and this time I remembered the entire dream, vivid colors, details and everything.

The following day I was able to remember 4 of my dreams. They were also very vivid and in the last one of these I looked at my hands, said to myself I'm dreaming and then I got a really exited feeling and woke up. Well, I thought for starters this is not bad.

This morning I did several reality checks in my dream, it's like my mind is mocking me. I tried to read something, focused on it and it changed, I realized I was dreaming but didn't become Lucid. I dreamed about dreaming, I really thought I wrote something in my dream journal, only to find it empty.

Prior to that around 4 AM I meditated, I felt myself slipping into dreaming and back to reality several times. I experienced several exiting emotions but once the mp3 was over I just woke up again. I just don't become conscious so I can control the dream, if I realize I'm dreaming I just notice and go along with the dream.

Well, I know I have only been at it for 2 weeks now, but I'm a little impatient. Is this a normal phase? What are your experiences? Did some of you start of like me, with several failed reality checks?

I would be very happy for any suggestions, thanks!

You should practice your awareness, or test idk. But awareness is mainly the thing that causes you to do a RC because you'll notice somethings not right. In dreams everything is normal but once you have like awareness or something you'll do RCs more in your dream

Right, I guess the problem is that I do realize I'm dreaming but don't become Lucid. Like I do all these checks, but then I just go along with the dream. I'm just going to continue practicing.

It would look like you haven't been doing RCs correctly.

Have you been doing them out of habit,(Or trying to make them a habit), or are you actually

      TRULY questioning your reality?

That's the way it should be done, truly question.

I have an app that reminds me to do reality checks. I will check my hands, read some text twice, or try to breath through my nose.
I just recently started to do this though.

Funny thing, last night I could recall most of my dreams. I woke up in a bed in my dream and then I was lifted up and everything started moving including the ground. I said:"Please tell me I'm dreaming" and whoever was in that house said no.

In another scene, I tried to climb a bridge with interesting architecture. I was scared to move as I was so high up, and then the classic music I was playing on my laptop was coming through, and I heard it in my dream and felt more confident.

You'd think I realize I was dreaming??? No..again I just went along with the dream.

I'm in mid air above my bed, there is some kind of earth quake going on..You'd think I question my reality? Well I kind of did, but just believed whatever the DC said in my dream.

OF course I will continue practicing. Maybe I should increase the reality checks, eventually one will slip in my dream, hopefully
