Question Dreams like movies, not watching however. Help me out!

I posted this in r/luciddreaming a while ago, but did not get any helpful replies. I'm wondering if this happens to anyone here:

I have been trying to lucid dream for two months now and I think that I am having trouble because my dreams are sort of like living a movie. People say that they have trouble attaining lucidity because they watch their dreams like movies and have no control, but I feel that my problem is a little different. Hear me out:

In one dream I was with my ex gf and we were hanging out about to do naughty stuff. I was in first person when we were talking (before the act). Then I think I was the perspective of my couch or something because I was in a fixed low angle position where my couch usually was, watching us take off our clothes. When we started banging, the perspective switched to a third person bird's eye view that panned down past us to exclude the sexual detail (exactly like some movies). Then I was back in first person after the we were done.

When I'm watching a movie I don't bother to think of reality checking, I'm just watching - totally immersed in the narrative. Could it be that I'm having trouble since my dreams are more like movies (with constantly changing perspectives and whatnot) than dreams? Does this happen to anyone else?

My dreams are always first-person. Best advice I can give is to try and recognize the change in camera angle as a dream sign and reality check whenever the angle changes in a film. The WILD technique might give you better results, as well.

I can relate. I've experienced dreams in 3rd person before as well, I've heard it's actually a common phenomena. It shouldn't be hindering your ability to recognize that you're dreaming, though.

You said that you don't perform dream checks during movies, because you tend to get immersed in them. So try working on getting yourself to perform dream checks in precisely that circumstance. You could even train your mind to stop and perform a check whenever something happens in a show/movie that tends to occur in your dreams. For example, you said that in the dream you were getting sexy with your ex. So, you could stop yourself and perform a dream check every time you see anything sexual or sensual in a movie, i.e. kissing, hugging, or sexual scenes.
