      This feels like a dream...

We all know that feeling, when halfway through your day, something feels wrong... it's not the flying cows nor the fact that Sauron wants to kill you, it's just... things are a little blurry and your body feels a little numb, so you focus on it and suddenly it feels warm and you can feel everything, but it's still a little numb, almost like... it's not real!

At least, that's how it feels to me!

How about you? What is that "dream feeling" that tells you to do a reality check?

It's hard to explain for me, it's not any specific feeling, just that something doesn't really "fit right." It can be logical and realistic as all can be, but there's that lingering thought in the back of my head that somewhere in the puzzle there's a piece that just doesn't fit. There's something wrong here, not to mention that this kind of feeling is a little familiar, it's the kind of thing that even with no sort of physical feeling or way of seeing things you still look around and you just sort of go,
      "hm."
That's it. That's the feeling. You just look around and it's just, "hm."
(and then hopefully you're lucid within the next 5 seconds)

It does sometimes. But rarely for me because my lucid dreams (not sure if its the same for you) have like black fuzzy stuff at the sides.

That's interesting! Maybe that's your "dream feeling"... black fuzzy stuff.

IRL I pay a lot of attention (awareness) to the sensations of my body in general. It is routine for me to focus on an overall sensory scan. I sometimes feel very good when I do this, perhaps too good, even like chemicals are flooding my bloodstream causing a tingle and a body high. I then stop and think, "damn, that feels freaking nice, wheeee! I must be asleep and full of sleep neurotransmitters. Well, can I take my feet off the ground? Yep, look at that, I am standing 6 " above the floor.."

I never really had that feeling that I was in a dream except for when I'm in a nightmare. If I'm in a nightmare I can feel everything kind of moving in a way except nothing is moving, I just feel it's presence moving. That's honestly the best way I could describe it =)

In a normal dream I could go through the whole dream and never feel any strangeness.

      Haha, I also recognize this.
You live your life as usual, minding your own business, and then all of a sudden everything gets this "unreal" feeling to it, and you feel like you should double-check whether or not you might be dreaming.
I actually find this feeling really pleasant, because it encourages me to practice Lucid Living, and it also guarantees that any dull day will feel exciting.

I went around at my university today for a good while and just explored unfamiliar parts of the buildings, and it almost felt a bit like exploring a dreamworld - I never knew what I would find around the next corner, and I was effortlessly paying attention to all sensory input.
It was a great, meditative state to be in.
