An Urgent Concern, I Require Insight

Hi there. So I just made an account here but already have some Lucid experience, though I have not been part of a forum/community yet. I have a concern that I was hoping somone here could lend insight to. Im not really sure where else to go.
So I've been on and off lucid dreaming for a very long time: ever since I was about 6 or 7 I've had the ability, then I used it to overcome nightmares which plagued me at the time. I remember very little from my childhood, but the things I do remember are very heavily related to my dreams.

Now I am 19 and live with roommates. A few months ago my dreaming became more and more intense; my dreams continued to increase in intensity like never before, and although I was somewhat prepared, the experiences began making me feel. . . different.
Unlike any other dreams I had in the past, these dreams felt. . . connected. Not just to me but to themselves, my past and the world around me. This connection appears to grow and encompass more with every dream, eventually seeming to stretch into my real world existence.
At this point in time I feel that my 3D experience is becoming incredibly dreamlike, I feel like I do in dreams and I feel the entities around me as if they were in my dream. I dont know if this is normal or dangerous.

This is where the concern lies, could any of you offer atleast some degree of insight on the matter?

Are you saying you're concerned about about you dissociation you're having with the physical reality? also have your read Robert Waggoners books : Lucid Dreaming the gateway to the inner self. He explains how Lucid Dreaming relates to lucid living and partially integrating the two. Sorry for being no help I am hoping someone jumps in and gives you a solution of some sort.

First of all, sorry for your troubles. I think you are saying, that your waking world is starting to resemble your dream world. I have not expereinced anything like that, but I see how that can be worrysome.

The only thing I can suggest is to do reality checks, whenever you are in doubt that you are awake. Those should confirm that indeed, you are. We normally do them in hopes, that we do one in a dream and that will help us gain lucidity.

But in your case, they will prove to you that you are awake. Not sure though, if it will have any negative impact on your dreams.

Reality check, or RC is something that is possible do to in a dream, but impossible in waking life. Such as:

- try to levitate (motionless RC, discreet in public)
- try to make something happen with your mind (change color of something, make someone walk through the door...)
- try to push your thumb through your palm
- try to breathe through your pinched nose

Thank you both for replying, it is much apreciated. I'll look into the book and try and find some more literature on the subject. I basicly knew what an RC was or atleast I use a similar method. After reading what you said about rc's I attempted it in hopes of helping, and it did but I was still left feeling as if in a dream. Thank you again.

Honestly I would suggest seeing a doctor, counselor or other professional about this. Truly feeling like you're in a dream when you logically know you're not may be a sign of another underlying problem (most likely not connected to lucid dreaming). I may be wrong, and it may be something else, but I would recommend seeing a doctor if you're concerned.

Well I do actually have some suggestions as well as a similar experience.

Firstly, I recently underwent a similar period of time in which I had a continuous doubt about waking life being a dream, because my dreams were always so vivid and life like that I would recall memories in waking life thinking that they were real occurrences but realizing they were dreams when others could not confirm. I am not sure why this happened but it occurred about the same time I stopped using social media and started meditating if I remember correctly, as I was often having dreams about using social media. A lot of "false awakenings" as well. However this problem does not seem to plague me as much now because my dreams are back to being extremely unrealistic.
AS far as your issue goes, it is somewhat of a reasonable thing in my opinion because really the only difference in waking life and dreams is your state of consciousness and awareness. And I mean that in a vague way because obviously there are differences but as far as distinguishing goes, its all consciousness and perception.

That is just my 2 cents and I by no means claim to be completely correct and I am not completely sure of the severity of your situation and what you mean by every moment feeling like a dream... but it sounds like something you can definitely fix. That being said, I would highly recommend at least talking to a professional just to get the reassurance you need and they could very likely offer the insight you seek.

Just wanted to add that a quick google search produced these results Can you control your dreams? - CNN.com you should read towards the bottom. I DO NOT WANT to scare you though haha! I just want you to address the before problems occur if that's the case.

I just may see a doctor if it becomes too much to handle, thanks for the concern. Im interested to know how you overcame your bout of "unreality", and also I wonder if I could solve my problem through exploring it in my dream world. It would be great if somone could give advice on how to get through fear/anxiety/problems in the dream world or maybe direct me to a part of the forum that could.

I would say as long as you don't start seeing things in real life that actually aren't there, you're fine. I have something similar right now and it doesn't really bother me unless I start seeing things, and that always freaks me out but it happens pretty infrequently.

Usually just knowing that it is a dream takes care of fears. If you know that it's your dream, and you can control it to a degree, it becomes even easier. In theory, of course, as we are all different.

Perhaps I just need more experience controling my dreams to move past this. I suppose that could result in more control over the way I feel in real life anyways.
