      Dream recall decreasing?

      Hello!

I have now started to try to lucid dream again after quitting for roughly a year. I have been trying for about two weeks. I write down my dreams every morning and i do my reallity checks (pinch my nose, check hands and push finger through my hand) roughly once or twice an hour.

The first week was going pretty good, i remembered my dreams really vividly and i dreamt about lucid dreaming (Layer zero minor) alsmost the whole week. And i also once did
a reallity check in my dream, but i didn't work (i did not become lucid). But this last week have been a struggle to remeber my dreams in vivid detail (still write down my dreams and preform reallity checks). How come my dream recall
have been decreasing all of a sudden?
Am i not writing down my dreams the correct way?

One contributing factor may be that i have gone to bed a little bit later than usual, but does that have such an effect on my dream recall?

      Thanks alot!

Dream recall is often an up-down thing ranging from really awesome to sometimes not remembering a dream at all. It's fairly common, at least for me. You have to look at dream recall as something that improves over longer periods, meaning you'll have these "blanks" less often the more you practice

I often find that dream recall decreases and increases according to my general mood- if my life is particularly busy or so I will likely be unable to remember beyond emotions and themes. I also find that they go in cycles of remembering and forgetting. Perhaps because you are new, the fluctuations will be a bit more obvious?

I'm not an avid LD'er or anything like that, just a total newbie myself, so please take my comments with a bit of salt...

Mine fluctuates a lot, from awesome recall to only recalling fragments for weeks at a time. For me it's generally stress plus not being able to consistently keep up the level of energy and motivation for LD practice over the long term. If I go through a period of focusing more on other skills it might take a few weeks to get the recall going again. Smoking certain green herbs messes with it too. Even though I know it's normal it's still frustrating!

My recall has been completely dead for about 2 weeks now, much longer than usual dips I have. I had just had a session of very vivid dreams each night as well so quite a change.

I guess we all fluctuate, I have no idea what causes mine really.
