Getting help finding things through lucid dreams

Whenever we misplace something, and fail to remember where we placed it, then - presumably - the knowledge is still present in our brains somewhere.

Has anyone successfully asked about the whereabouts of lost objects, while inside a lucid dream, and gotten the right answer? Or a wrong one, for that matter?
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

      Great thread!
This I find really interesting - I hope it works!!
Not searching something myself "unfortunately" at the moment - but once I do, I hope I remember trying this out.

It should work with hypnosis - well, of course only if you can know the answer.
I've been thinking anyway - all the things possible with hypnosis - shouldn't one be able to do these to oneself in an LD?

Would make sense to learn about how exactly hypnosis is used - and one could experiment, how to go about implementing hypnotic methods like planting suggestions directly oneself.

This is exactly what I thought, and it was the primary reason for me to get into lucid dreaming. So far I have not been able to study it much though - I am still using my LDs to improve my elementary LD skills.

Really good topic. I tried this in a DEILD chain once. It's in Dream #3 of this entry: 1 CANWILD, 4 DEILDs including a FA - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

As you can see, I didn't succeed, but I will definitely be trying this again. I'm not really into the supernatural aspects of dreaming, but I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to access a memory like this, given the right circumstances.

Perhaps I would be better of trying to reconstruct the last time I saw said item. Perhaps that might jog my memory. How would you go about it?

I'm waiting for the two to get merged - but I started a poll and thread on the possibilities of combining hypnosis and LD, and what the experiences of people are:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...ome-lucid.html

Till now - there is only a link to the other thread in there - and in that other thread is a bit of discussion - hopefully going on and growing!

I would love to go to a hypnotist and try it out myself - don't have the money for such a thing in the moment - but I am pretty sure, one day not so far away I will do exactly that.

What I think of is simply some initial experiments with "every time you experience dreamsign xyz - you do a RC and realize, if you are dreaming".

I've never been to a real-life hypnotist (or -therapist), but I've listened to countless hypnosis tapes (well, actually mp3's), including a couple made by Stephen Laberge specifically on lucid dreaming.

Mostly they put me blissfully to sleep, but I haven't noticed any other effects of listening to them. This probably just indicates that I'm not very receptive to hypnosis.

I also made my own hypnosis mp3's for dream incubation, and even mixed them with my own binaural and isochronic tones. The results were very tranquilising, but I have no memory of them ever leading to the desired dreams. Of course they might have worked without me being conscious enough to know it.
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

I think we should try this. Can't hurt. I found a PDF of self-hypnosis scripts that happened to include scripts for dream recall and lucid dreaming. I have no experience with these things, so I can't tell if it would work. Selfhypnosis document with lucid dreaming script.

As I understand it, you're supposed to read the induction first, then the script, and then a wake-up script (which I suppose is optional if you're doing it at bedtime). I'll give it a try tonight.

It is typically a three-part affair, as you write. The first part (induction) brings the hypnotee (if that's what s/he is called) into a very relaxed (both bodily and mentally) state (trance). This is a general induction which does not have anything particular to do with the main reason for the hypnosis ("As you listen to my voice, you become deeply relaxed ... " etc.)

The second part is where the specific commands are given, which constitute the main reason for the hypnosis ("Whenever you find yourself on a bus in a dream, you instantly realise that you are dreaming ..." or similar).

The third part is the waking-up phase ("I will now count down from 5 to 1, and when I reach 1 you will be wide awake").

Maybe a good choice for the second part would be programming in RCs: "Whenever you see a toilet, you will check whether you're dreaming, or awake!"

Or, more extreme: "Whenever you dream, whatever you dream about, you will become lucid!"
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

Yeah, but that's assuming that some part of you already knows that you're dreaming. If not, I suppose it does have to he one or more of your common dream signs.

How about combining things: "Every night you will dream once about a large blue oak tree, and immediately you will become lucid!"
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

I tried this last night with no success It's been two months since I lost my ID and I still had some hope of finding it somewhere in my house.
I had a false awakening and was like yeeeeahhh (though it was a bit scary with someone hands holding me), I just waited consciously for the images to form and suddenly I was on a movie theater, I began floating to the screen because I wanted to get into de movie but I remembered I had said I would try finding something, so I stopped one DC and asked if he knew where my ID was.. he looked at me and kept walking, I remembered that in the last LD's this has been happening, my DC's ignoring me until I'm polite. So I said again "hi (smiling) hey, could you please tell me if you know where my ID is?", he stopped, smiled as if pleased and said he didn't knew. I asked other DC's but everybody turned their backs at me! huh! what's going on with them??!, anyway... there was one young lady who answered "the thorn nailed in the couch" (it's the best I can translate this since I don't dream in english), I said "ok, thank you", then one DC (this one I knew because was the image of one of my waking life friends) approached me and asked: "you don't know what that means right??", I answered "no, can you tell me?", he laughed and said "no, we have no compromise", I held his arm and said "hey, you're not this bad in waking life, how would I know where to find it? I don't know what that means..." and everything became blurry and I woke up, damn!

That's the tricky part of the subconscious, usually answering with symbolism. I usually get it through the day, or when I ask for a better explanation in another LD. But since I don't like wasting precious lucid dream time in the same thing, I think it's time to go and get a new ID.
