LD Block
Hello,
This is my first post in the community but I've been LD for some years now. I used to had 1 or 2 at least per week but since a month ago aproximately I stopped having them after I got killed just after I realized I was on a dream. My routine hasn't changed much since then except I've been getting woken up by something external (alarm for example) rather than alone.
Has any of you experienced a LD block before? (is this a thing or does it have another name?)
Anyway... any comment or suggestion is well appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
DreamWalker

Yeah, I tend to go through cycles where I will have them frequently for a while and then go a few months where I barely do or not at all. It's very frustrating because it came so easily to me as a child, and I know that I am capable of doing it and gaining a fair amount of control because I have plenty of times in the past.
I'm currently on my longest stretch of a block, nearly a year of barely having lucid dreams and not really making progress with my dream goals. =/ When I do become lucid my level of control and time of remaining lucid is very poor.
I wish I could help or give some words of advice, but the best I can tell you is just try to focus on the fact that you KNOW you can do it, and try not to get frustrated but instead pull up the feeling of how good and accomplished you feel when you've had LDs.

Dryspell is the term we use mostly. I think the first thing to consider is external factors. If you aren't sleeping well then you can't lucid dream well. The causes could be a change of environment, physical discomfort, stress, etc. You mentioned waking to an alarm which can have a negative effect on recall. After considering that, often what you need is to change things up and add something new and novel. You could try a different technique. Adding a WBTB, getting extra sleep on a weekend, or trying an afternoon nap are good ways to snap a dryspell. When I have a dryspell I look over my goals, throw most of them away, and replace them with new fresh ones. Lastly, sometimes is helps to take a break for a while. Trying too hard can be bad. It's okay to take a week or more and just appreciated your non-LDs and daydreaming for a while to build up your recall.

Thank you for your answers. I'll get rid of the alarms to reduce the stress and improve my sleeping getting some naps. I'll try to keep you posted.
