Thinking of Starting A Lucid Dreaming Club at My University. Need Suggestions.

Hello everyone,

I am thinking of starting a Lucid Dreaming Club at my University to bring the awareness (no pun intended) of the science and art of lucid dreaming. It astonishes me that even now the time where lucid dreaming has finally been scientifically proven and documented and there is a lot of research into it still going, that a lot of people do not believe in it, let alone know of its existence.
I am 20 years old and a lucid dreamer myself. I have a goal of mastering lucid dreaming completely. I know how amazing stunning lucid dreams can be and the power they hold of accessing your subconscious. I would like to bring the awareness of this awesome experience at my university and thus starting a club to help people get into lucid dreaming and experience its power and potential.

Do you think this would be a good idea? If you had a lucid dreaming club at your university would you join it? Any suggestions on how I should approach this.

I would totally join it. I think this is a great idea.

Do you personally know anyone at your school who you talk about dreams and lucid dreaming a lot with? Perhaps joining a psychology, philosophy or cultural anthropology class would help you get to know more people at your school who are into this kind of thing. I find having people to start a club with helps to get it going. I recently started a Japanese club at my school and it really helped that I knew people who would already be interested and had a friend to help me lead it.

Sadly, I do not know anyone else in real life that lucid dreams. The only people that I really talk to about this are my girlfriend and my cousin (who is also my roommate). Neither of them recall ever experiencing lucid dreaming. My cousin is trying to though. I agree with you, it would be much easier if I could find people who also LD to start the club with me. I just find it difficult to start from scratch. Idk where to being

Do you have any classes at your college about dreaming? I'm currently taking one at my course under the anthropology department.

Yes my University is huge, we must have something like that. However, am I am Math major, my schedule is filled with complete different things. I think I will start by telling my group of friends about LD to try to get them interested then expand from that

Yeah, that makes it tough. I don't know if your college requires any general requirements, such as a social science, which would help fit in a course about dreaming.

I hope it works out for you! Also see if you can get the school's permission to post flyers to spark interest and get in contact with people. You could contact a professor who teaches a course about dreaming as well to see if he or she knows anyone who would be interested in a club like this.

I did a short presentation on lucid dreaming once in class, people seemed intrigued. Apart from that I have only met one person at my uni who is a lucid dreamer...It can be a good idea, but you need at least a few people on board to begin. Otherwise it'll be just you persuading people to join, can get pretty tedious. You could leave some kind of contact information (create a fb page or something) - post it to message boards around campus, or leave notes with the link to it in the library, asking to contact you if they are interested in lucid dreaming. Who knows, maybe there are like minded people indeed.
