What do you call a supplement induced lucid dream? In the style of DEILD, DILD, WILD, FILD, etc.
I've seen SILD (senses initiaited) and FILD (finger initiated -- <-- tried that once, tried to do it so faintly it hurt to attempt such fine motion, lmao). What is it called when galantamine initiates the dream?

If you used galantamine to induce a WILD, then you just experienced a WILD, but you can use galantamine and do FILD for example and achieve the WILD in a slightly different way. If you used galantamine and felt asleep and became lucid inside the dream, you experienced a DILD: some substances are more helpful for specific techniques, but since we don't have a complete understanding on the effects of these substance on the brain during dreams, it's hard to pinpoint how exactly is helping you becoming lucid. For example, if you took a drug that improved your prospective memory, you could have an easier time achieving a DILD via MILD. In this sense, just like doping is not a technique to ride a bicycle, drugs are not techniques to achieve lucidity: they just help you in the neurochemistry department :)
So you can simply say "I take galantamine to get lucid" ;)
I would like there to be a term for it. What with FILD, SILD, EILD (electronically, like with a sleep mask that shines lights), almost especially EILD, it just seems to fit a patterns of <what was used to>ILD. All the more so when I have been able to basically pick and choose when I'll have a lucid dream through galantamine.
WILD to me seems to cover two different things. 1) lucid from the very inception of the dream but not awake before the dream starts (I have several last night, from a sleeping state, and 2) literally awake in bed, see the dream form, lucidly the whole time and transition to a lucid dream (I had one of those once, kinda crazy).
Well, unless you're experiencing sleep paralysis, what you're describing in the first situation is a DEILD. People like VagalTone like to wake up several times a night and within a few seconds enter right into a dream, because the brain is pressured to enter in REM. -Technique is a specific procedure to achieve a result, Like freestyle swimming (swimming being the method, freestyle being the technique).
-Technology is the application of principles or materials to achieve a certain result (like swinfins).
When you use a substance like galantamine, you're not creating any technique: you still either WILD or DILD, and the variations (read techniques) - the specific way you perform that method - dictate that you become lucid in a certain way. Of course most of times (especially true with these substances) it can (like I said before) be hard to pinpoint the cause of the lucidity, but there's always a reason for you to become lucid, like identifying something wrong with the dream or experiencing increased self-awareness, something that galantamine helps with. It's also natural to assume that with so much experience you have, it's easier to maximize results compared to people who take galantamine (like Alzheimer's patients) in much higher dosages than lucid dreamers and don't report intense lucid dreaming ;)
(Just my opinion by the way. You should totally create a name for it if you want, I was just trying to explain why having 30 lucid dream techniques names isn't the same as having 30 lucid dream techniques :P)

MILD, DEILD and even CANWILD I'm fine with because they are really general techniques. SSILD would have made sense (!) too, if SILD hadn't already been taken. EILD is actually not such a great name, and FILD just hurts my brain because it's so... ah, someone here probably invented it, so I'll just shut up. :D
I'll go and try for a DVFPILD (DreamViews Forum Participation Induced Lucid Dream) now. :offtobed:
The fact that the exact mechanism is not well understood is reason to give it its own term - why not GILD?
My experience has been limited, but each time galantamine has caused me to become lucid like a DILD, not any of the others. I just realised I was dreaming, but I haven't had much success with the traditional techniques (yet). Galantamine has definitely made a difference.
Why not GILD? Because then we'll need acronyms for melatonin, coffee, bananas, B6, too little sleep, too much sleep, apple juice, menthol, music, cannabis, masturbation, prayer, cheese, willpower, beginner's luck, 5-HTP, nudity, choline, pregnancy, tryptophan, incense, and whatever else gives people lucid dreams. And no, I didn't make any of these up. They have all been recommended by various people here on DV.
I understand nomenclature can be a finicky business. I still think there should be something, however, so I propose OILD: oneirogen induced lucid dream. I prefer a generic category, unlike GILD for galantamine. I was originally thinking broader, like, chemically facilitate lucid dreams, any chemical involvement from paint thinner to B6, but oneirogen is not only a cool word, it's directly pertinent here.
@Zoth, you say my first description is a DEILD, but I thought a DEILD actually requires the dreamer to wake up. Would you still use the term DEILD if the dreamer is exactly 0% awake between dreams? As for myself, I do a mix, something with no awakeness whatsoever, and sometimes closer to wakefulness I suppose (not that I think about that potential much, but upon reflection I suspose I am floating nearer the surface of wakefulness), but almost entirely I never wake up, nor have any awareness of my body of any sort whatsoever, so there's no need to "not move".
As it is, WILD and DILD simply denote a quality the event, namely when conscious awareness begins. MILD is certainly a technique in that you much perform it. EILD isn't a technique in that, other than putting it on, your don't perform steps. So I suppose a strong distinction can be made between techniques (i.e. steps taken, which to me FILD would fully count, since steps must be performed), and facilitators, such as dream masks, music alarms, and oneirogens. As far as I can tell, there is no strong distinction among existing terms as to steps/instigators. And WILD is primarily neither a step nor an instigator, but it does have a serious of steps that furthers its occurrence, so in a sense, it's a goal with related practices/techniques/steps.
Personally, I think OILD would be a good addition, primarily because such pursuits are extremely common.
