The idea of lucid dreaming sounds brilliant (and too good to be true, I mean, is it really exactly as real as waking life?) but I'm far too scared to try it. I'm scared of... I'm not sure really. Getting "stuck" in a lucid dream (even though I know that's impossible) or going crazy or something. I guess you could say I'm just scared of the unknown. But, seeing as you've all lucid dreamed, I'll ask you first. Is there anything to be afraid of?

If you aren't scared of regular dreams you shouldn't be scared of lucid dreams. The only difference between a regular dream and a lucid dream is that you know that you know you're dreaming in a lucid dream.
Lucid dreams take place entirely in your own mind. You never leave the comfort of your own brain, or bed. I would recommend you learn as much about the techniques (all provided on this forum) and try it out.
In my humble opinion, it can be better than real life. I can fly like superman in my lucid dreams, just that alone makes it worth while.

That's how I've always thought of lucid dreaming, one of those 'too good to be true' things you dream about only to wake up and be disappointed it's not real, only lucid dreaming is.
Like the others said, absolutely nothing to be afraid of. When you start having more lucids you'll be wishing there was a way to get stuck in them, only temporarily, of course though.
And yes, some LDs are as realistic/vivid as waking life :)
Lucid dreams can't make you psychotic. The only thing I know of that has a history of affecting someone's brain chemistry to the point of long-term psychosis would be certain hallucinogenics (there are a few potential studies like the long-term affects of certain drugs used for certain mental illnesses). Lucid Dreaming is not a hallucinogen, nor is it something that has been known to alter brain chemistry in any significant way.
There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. As of yet, I've only done it a couple of times, and each time was absolutely fantastic.
Nothing to be afraid of. You can't really get "stuck" in a lucid dream, but like Mismagius above me said, I'd like to get stuck in one for a while! Lucid dreaming is awesome, can feel more real than waking life, and we can do whatever w want!
So don't be scared. :)
