Attacked by DC!
Hello fellow dreamers!
I'm a guy from Bergen, Norway (anyone else from the area?) that is fairly new to LD and have been trying actively to have LDs for about 5 weeks. So far, I've had 3 LDs that has lasted about 1-2 minutes each. I know this is not that long, but the experiences has been really exciting for me.
In my latest LD I had a false awakening where I wasn’t in my own bed and I think this is what triggered it.
Anyway, there was a DC sitting in front of me, he/she (not sure at this point) was sort of hippie-like and seemed very occupied with talking to itself about a subject I can't really remember. Once I had stabilized, I decided to say hello. I only said the word "hello" and the DC replied with a quick "hi" and then continued talking to itself. I sat there for a while, just listening and enjoying lucidity. Btw: there and then, I understood everything that was said, but after waking up, I cannot for the life of me remember what it was. I had a dream goal of flying in this dream, but before I did this I wanted to ask the DC if he knew this was a dream. '
I remembered reading about DCs attacking when confronting them with the fact that they are just a part of your subconscious, but my curiosity of what the answer would be was to strong. I also believed that this “hippie-character” would be open to ponder around this subject, so I simply asked: Do you know that this is a dream? This is where it really got scary/interesting! The DC stopped talking and just stared at me with extremely scary eyes. They were red, sort of coming out at me (very hard to explain). The DC then transformed into a "version" of my wife that reminded me of a kind of witch (she's not in real life ) She started to sort of swirl me around and repeated this to me a couple of times: "I'm your heckler wife (?) and you love me." I think I was about to lose lucidity, at least partially, then I woke up. I must admit it was scary there and then, but afterwards I also see the cool and crazy aspect of it.
What do you guys make of this? Was it my expectation that decided the outcome of the situation? Do you guys have similar experiences with DCs? I think DCs are interesting and really want to explore them more in future LDs, but it would be good to get some tips on how to “attack” similar situations in the future! Thanks in advance.

Well, I think it was because of you expecting it to happen as you read about it in the past, if you expect something to happen in lucid dreams or even dreams, most of time it will happen. I don't have a similar situation to that as I've only have 2 short LD's, but in a non lucid for some reason I was helping someone fighting against this guy. And yes DCs are interesting, some people on here spend most of their time in Lucids just talking to DCs, Lucids would sure be boring without these weird DC's!

Thank you for answering my question! Next time I might try to expect something else, even though this might be hard. Anyway, I dont think I will ask any of them a question like this in the near future.

Hey there, yep your expectations would have provoked your DC for sure. Dont be afraid to ask again on the future, the same questions or different ones. DC's can be so entertaining, so experiment with them. Anything from making them appear to making them dissapear by touching them, take them flying or transform them. But you can have plenty of fun just by having conversations with them. Even if something bad does happen in future attempts dont forget you are lucid so therefore in total control. You can control that DC sitting in that chair in anyway you please, especially with practice. Feel free to ask anymore questions. Best of luck
