How do we "see" in a lucid dream? And a few questions

When I am in a dream I always see everything as if it is with "film grain effect" ( where the dots are very dark ), so the images are never clear but are noticeable and I can remember wherever I was when dreaming. In a Lucid Dream would I still see everything with "film grain" or can I see normally as if I was awake? I have Myopia IRL, I hope I get to see normally in a lucid dream ... :disconcerted:

I normally have good memory of dreams, should I write them down when I wake up? Do it really help me achieve lucid dream? I also experience sometimes "fake" lucid dreams ( I would put it this way ) where I notice for a time I am dreaming but suddenly I "forget" and get with the "flow" of the dream until the end.

And my last question: reality check, should I keep doing it during the day or when I wake up? I count my fingers or look at the clock in the smartphone from time to time.

Don't worry about your vision on a lucid dream, you can easily control it when you are lucid.
Yes, you should write them down to work your dream recall and to help find dream signs. I don't know if you can call them "fake" lucid dream since you achieved lucidity but lost it. That normally happens with people who aren't familiar with lucid dreaming.

About the reality checks during the day is a good idea to do them but depending on the technique they aren't fundamental, for example WILDing doesn't requires that you do RCs during the day. I suggest that you keep doing RCs during the day to figure out which techniques works best for you.
But the RCs when waking up are very important to get LDs from false awaknings

That's good to know I have had LD without me ever noticing it! I have begun today trying RC during the day just to see if it improves and from today on I will also write a dream journal on a notepad.

Then I have had LD for about 3 years without knowing it ( NOT on every dream as I said ). I hope I get to "remember" now when I am in a LD ....

1: I'm no neurobiologist nor psychologist but I'd wager to guess we see in dreams the same way we see in real life; that is, through our visual cortex. Except instead of having our visual cortex stimulated by light coming into our eyes, our brain uses our MEMORY of light to stimulate the visual cortex.

"Can I see normally as if I was awake?"
2: Absolutely. So long as you have a grasp on what perfect vision is, you can recreate it in your dreams. It may be difficult at first to convince your brain to stop seeing things in your dreams with the "film grain" effect you described but it is possible.

3: Yes, you should write down your dreams. It will not only help increase your dream recall but it will also help you recognize dream signs. (On a side note. I've found I simply realize I'm dreaming more often when I write down my dreams more frequently)

4: If you truly realized you were dreaming whilst you were dreaming, you lucid dreamed. It does not matter whether you forgot later on or you woke up immedietly afterwards. (P.S. Forgetting that you are dreaming after attaining lucidity is very common)

I think I know the problem, I have a really high problem with Myopia and the film grain might be how I see everything around me in the dark before going to the bed. I will take the glasses off only when I actually am on the bed from now on ... because I remember one of my childhood dreams ( till today, actually they were nightmare and I am pretty sure I had a LD by reading these answers ) and they were not with "film grain". Also, thanks for answering my other question. I am leaving the forum as I might try sleeping earlier before I get sleepy exhausted.

The generally accepted (well I accept it, learned from Sageous) meaning of "fake" lucid dream is a dream that at first seems like a lucid dream based on what you're thinking (you may have waking life memories and feel like your waking self) and what you're doing (you may "be in charge" or be directing the plot confidently, and perform "dream control" like zoom flying, summoning objects (I've done both of these in non-lucid dreams), teleporting, etc., but you don't actually realize you're dreaming. Doesn't mean they're not fun! Just not lucid. Becoming lucid and losing lucidity is just that: a lucid dream that turns back into a non-lucid one.

Many dreams are fine just the way they are, without lucidity. Yes lucidity really rocks, but I loooove a good, long, fun, aware, vivid non-lucid dream any time!
