Curiosity has struck me and I want to see if there is some truth to my theory. If you are a natural lucid dreamer, been doing it for as long as you can remember and didn't need any help with the onset of them, being which you probably didn't even know you were lucid dreaming because "everyone does this, right?" AND have ADD or ADHD, please comment here! Thank you!
Ok well I will be first to comment to My post hahaha. Maybe should have mentioned in the post. I have ADHD and am a natural lucid dreamer. Sure I need fine tuning but the actual capability came on it's own accord before I even knew what it was. :)
My girlfriend is diagnosed with ADHD and she says that she's had lucid dreams pretty often throughout her life without trying, but she says she doesn't do much with controlling them she just kinda goes with the dream (what a waste :(). Not sure if there's a relation between ADHD and LDing though.
Thank you, Fuzzman. Very interesting as that is how I would describe most of my experiences as well. Some minor control over flying and occasional shapeshift. This site has really helped me in that department!
It's quite possible. I have ADHD too, and so does my brother. We're pretty sure my mother and my grandma might as well. Another friend of mine isn't sure, but thinks she might have ADHD too.
All of us get sleep paralysis often and have natural lucid dreams.
I think it mostly has to do with how ADHD affects the sleep pattern. People with ADHD have a harder time going to bed on time and getting enough sleep. This sleep deprivation can cause sleep paralysis and REM rebound, which means it's more common to gain lucidity during dreams.
I may be a natural lucid dreamer but I still have so much to work on. Such as my fear when paralyzed and encouraging myself to explore my dream while lucid more. I know there are some "natural lucid dreamers" that have way much control than I do. So I suppose there's a difference between "being naturally good at control" and "naturally inducing lucid dreams".
I'm not trying to sound disrespectful at all but is it true that lots of doctors diagnose kids with ADHD or ADD when they don't really have it. They just say it to get the place some more cash
No it is not true. I am 22 and was just diagnosed and it does explain a lot of things that occurred in my life. It also highly affects my job and marriage. Go to ADDitudemag.com, ADHD/ADD is very real and until you have experienced it yourself either you or someone you know or love has it, it doesn't make a lot of sense. It is a true neurological difference and our bodies and nervous system react differently to different things than a "normal" person.
Anyway, that's all I'll say, do go to the site and research. Don't want to get off topic.

I was diagnosed with ADD due to meningitis that I suffered as a child. Although I have ADD, I believe that in recent days the diagnosis of ADD and ADHD is thrown around. Any kid who is having the slightest bit of trouble paying attention is diagnosed with it so that companies can capitalize off the medicines prescribed to us.Quote:

Personally, I don't take medications, but I know companies aren't doing it just to make money. My brother does need medication and can't really function well without it and he's a big supporter of it, while I think it's better to learn techniques to cope on your own. It really depends on the person.
There are reasons for misdiagnosis. For instance, one's diet could create similar symptoms of ADD, or just a bad sleep schedule in general. But it is very offensive to tell someone you probably don't have it. It is frustrating to have to explain over and over again the symptoms and help people to understand it. I know no one means offense here of course.
I work with kids personally and I've worked with both kids who don't have ADHD and kids who do have ADHD. It's a big difference and sometimes medication makes so much difference in that kid's life. These are just from my observations. After a lot of experience, you can kind of tell when a kid has ADHD.

My husband has ADHAS and he's had a WILD almost per accident - I told him, this would be possible, and he tried and did it. But only once up to now. He has a sleep apnea and that often ruins his sleep and makes it more complicating, he didn't really try anymore.
Can I ask what ADHAS is, StephL?
Oh - sorry it's Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Adult Syndrome - the second A just says he is an adult - that's common to do round here, once a patient grows up and still has it.
