      Lucid dream afterlife possible?

Okay so whenever we are all gone and our spirit leaves our body, I know that we go to the astral world and such. We'll I was wondering , do you think we could also "lucid" dream or something like that , while we are gone? I think it would be really cool of we could.

It would be cool. You might look into sleep yoga,as the basic intent of its practice is to prepare you to use lucidity straight through the death process and into the afterlife. You also might want to check out the Tibetan Book of the Dead, because it offers preparation for the same sort of lucid afterlife.

Byond the religious stuff, even if you are agnostic about things, developing your lucid skills to a point where you can remain fully aware throughout the death process might just give you a front row seat to the afterlife, should there be one!

This in my opinion is an excellent reason to refine your LD'ing skills, BTW...

Interesting topic. Have you checked out the book "Dreaming Yourself Awake" by B. Allan Wallace? I am currently reading it, and the author talks about the "bardos," a deep dream state where we (theoretically) prepare for our next life. I am not really sure what to make of it, personally, but it definitely sounds like a good reason to practice lucid dreaming.. just in case.

I hope you don't mind me asking a question in your thread -

One thing I am confused about is the astral realm. How does this relate to the "bardos" - are they essentially the same? Anyone happen to know much on this topic, or how Tibetan Buddhists view the astral realm?

And thanks, Sageous, for the book recommendation. I am going to look into that...

I'm no expert, nor can I say I know a lot on this topic. I'll just share with you something I once read related to this and maybe it will give you some ideas.

What I once read from someone who regularly did astral traveling, is that we visit the astral realm every time we dream. If you perform an OBE, you may even encounter dreamers, but find it next to impossible to interact with them because they're unaware of the fact that they're dreaming, much less if someone is trying to contact them while dreaming. And when some people die, they continue dreaming and dreaming until they eventually reincarnate.

But for those who are more (and this is my choice of words, not the source's) "spiritually aware," they move on to wherever it is the dead go beyond the astral realm. So I guess you could have a lucid dream in the afterlife, but who could say for how long since there's no body to wake up in.

I'm not saying what I've shared is true or not. This is just a small recount of what another person had to say on the subject. Again, maybe it will give you some ideas.

I don't believe it's possible, dreams occur because of the brain and once the physical body dies so does the brain. The only way I would see possible to exprience a dream despite losing the brain is if you attempt share dreaming with another person who is physical. However this is just a theory in situations like this it's impossible to be 100% certain.

I'm not sure it's exactly the same thing as lucid dreaming when we are alive, but thousands upon thousands have experienced consciousness post bodily death, and their accounts are interesting to read. Here's a link below:
