During my lucid dreams I do not even attempt to exert control and I don't know why.
I ended up having 2-3 lucid dreams in a row because I kept dreaming about a amusement park that has been making me go lucid lately. Before I gained the ability to lucid dream I obsessed over the idea of it I kept trying as hard as I could to do it for over a year to I had my first lucid dream. After being able to lucid dream for over 2 years ironically going lucid sometimes annoys me. Like I'm in the middle of a nice dream and something happens that makes me realize I'm dreaming and I think "so this isn't real.. you gotta be kidding me.." The first dream I told my parents I'll meet up with them later and as I was walking I saw these people all wearing one of four different color shirts each with a different water park name on them. The pink shirt one was the one I wanted to go to and I was trying to figure out where to go, the whole time after I saw the people with the shirts I felt like something was off. I stopped and thought wait a minute.. I did the looking at your hands reality check (the only reality check I thought of enough to get myself to do it in my dreams) they looked normal at first and I thought I should check again, they looked thinner this time and when I moved my fingers they looked even weirder. Then I knew I was dreaming I just stood there motionless knowing I was dreaming then I woke up. The other dream me and my parents drove from our place to the amusement park, once we got there I was walking around happy I was there, but then I thought wait could this be a dream too. I checked my hands they were thin again definitely not normal. Proving to myself I was dreaming at that point I became a little pissed off I was annoyed that I drove all the way there got to a place that makes me happy only to find out none of it was real.. then I woke up. Thinking about it I thought what I wanted was to have less lucid dreams more specifically not go lucid in the dreams that make me happy. But thinking of it more maybe the question should really be why do I not take advantage of the dream when I go lucid and how do I change that. Perhaps I got the fact it's not real to drilled into my head and then within the dream the fact it's not real makes me take it for granted?
