Just interested after having a very wee lucid dream where I spied an interesting light fixture and was quite taken with it - Has anyone while lucid ever taken apart any electronic devices etc just to see what was inside?

Not that I know of but I could try and see what happens. ^^
I've had dreams before where there are books with moving pictures in them (a la Harry Potter), and I tear out the pages to see how it is working. Also, I can recall a particular dream where there is a map of the city down below me and I can shift the shapes upon it and the buildings rearrange themselves accordingly. Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.
This thread reminds me of this short story by Philip K. Dick: I Hope I Shall Arrive Soon.
Quote:
Kemmings said, "I don't think you exist. There is no I possible way that you could know these things. I'm still I in cryonic suspension and the ship is still feeding me my own buried memories. So I won't become psychotic from sensory deprivation."
"You could hardly have a memory of completing the trip."
"Wish fulfillment, then. It's the same thing. I'll prove I it to you. Do you have a screwdriver?"
"Why?"
Kemmings said, "I'll remove the back of the TV set and you'll see; there's nothing inside it; no components, no parts, no chassis—nothing."
"I don't have a screwdriver."
"A small knife, then. I can see one in your surgical supply bag." Bending, Kemmings lifted up a small scalpel. "This will do. If I show you, will you believe me?"
"If there's nothing inside the TV cabinet—"
Squatting down, Kemmings removed the screws holding the back panel of the TV set in place. The panel came loose and he set it down on the floor.
There was nothing inside the TV cabinet.
Does destroyed count? I don't think I've ever paid attention to them though, just BOOM and there it goes. One thing to try out.
I dream about all sorts of weird devices, and sometimes get to inspect then very closely. I've taken a couple apart as well, but I've never done any lucid stiff with devices - not had long enough lucids (yet).
The last one was a weird multi-stage distilling apparatus made of glass that had several glass globes interconnected. Others have been more metallic clock-like contraptions.
