      Dream Guides in Our Waking Life

      As we all know, a dream guide is a special DC that we meet in our dreams that seems to stand out among the rest. This DC sometimes answers questions that we have about our waking life and sometimes even helps us becomes stronger lucid dreamers. I was recently watching videos and just purchased a book by Nick Barrett, a man who is very interested in being in touch with his Dream Guide. My question is do you believe in the existence of a dream guide and do you think that they are watching you in your waking life?

      A "dream guide" seems to be one of the deepest parts of your unconscious - whether or not there's a part of it outside your unconscious I don't really know, but it would be really cool if there were!

      That's interesting. I have heard of someone feel their Dream Guide's presence throughout the day but never communicating with them. Do you control when you communicate with your Dream Guide or is it random?

      My question is do you believe in the existence of a dream guide and do you think that they are watching you in your waking life?
      Imo, that's like asking us if we believe there is an Emotion Guide that helps us recall details of our memories during the day. There isn't need for mystification if you address the concept of Dream Guide within the neuroscience paradigm of consciousness as a unity product resulting off several brain processes that possess their own functions and originate several drives to the organism. So you end up realizing the question is a false dualism: dream guides exist, in one way or another, and theoretically they indeed watch us over our waking life....because they are yet a brain manifestation we created.

      The concept of Dream Guide is foggy at best, because there is no general consensus over what can represent a dream guide:
      - there isn't any real difference between a Dream Guide and a more complex Dream character that reveals interest/knowledge towards the dreamer;
      - many/most reports of people finding their Dream Guides seem to occur while the person knows what a Dream Guide is (and for those who didn't, the previous point still applies);
      - due the nature of the experience, it's natural to expect some mysticism to manifest itself into the dream, and what better than a character that knows a great deal about the dreamer? It should be a lot more natural than we'd think, considering we're the ones creating the whole experience.

      I met people that not only were capable of reading my thoughts, but knew exactly how to affect me (both positively and negatively): can I really discriminate which ones are my DG's or not? To the argument "a DG is there for you, not to drive you away", how do you know they aren't helping me with a particular dream obstacle? By now it seems that there isn't a dream guide.....there are simply a degree of complexity and "consciousness" in the dream characters that populate the dream. But we are like this all the time, it's not something bound to the dream if it wasn't for the direct representation it has. This quote by Gurdjieff talks about this:

      We think that if a man is called Ivan he is always Ivan. Nothing of the kind. Now he is Ivan, in another minute he is Peter, and a minute later he is Nicholas, Sergius, Matthew, Simon. And all of you think he is Ivan. You know that Ivan cannot do a certain thing. He cannot tell a lie for instance. Then you find he has told a lie and your are surprised he could have done so. And, indeed, Ivan cannot lie; it is Nicholas who lied. And when the opportunity presents itself Nicholas cannot help lying. You will be astonished when you realize what a multitude of these Ivans and Nicholases live in one man. If you learn to observe them there is no need to go to a cinema.

      Yes, but I call them Spirit Guides

      I believe it is your Spirit Guides who play the paper of a Dream Guide, as they help you with your interests as long as they serve your highest good without negatively affecting other's free will.

      You can connect with them through meditation!

      Spoiler for How to connect with your Spirit/Dream Guides in waking:
