Question
Is it normal that I got lucid after I was non lucid in a dream that took only a few minutes to get into? I did take a nap like 7 hours ago so is that the reason why? I'm asking cause I don't know much about rem and when a lucid dream is suppose to start scientifically. The dream only lasted like 40 minutes.

I'm not quite sure I understand the question? Can you clarify?

Forget it. I was just confused because I heard that you can't WILD when you first go to bed. Or that if you do the dream will be really unstable. I Just wanted to know how long each step for a dream to start would be.

Hi,
WILDing before bed is next to impossible since as you first go to sleep at night you will be put into long regeneration phase (Aka NREM)
This First NREM Phase will last up to 1 hour or maybe even more. Assuming that you wouldn't screw up after around one hour a rem phase would start
Yet the first rem phase is quite bad, it's low quality five minutes long dream and after that you will be put back into nrem for a shorter period of time 30 - 60 mins?
And another rem will last like 5+ minutes?
That's why WBTB is recommended
After like 4 - 7 hours of sleep there will be quite small amount of nrem comparing to long as heck rem :yeah
Your dreams will have more quality aswell as lenght
And holding up awareness with some wild technique won't need to be performed long...

O.k. Thanks. : D I went to bed at 10:38pm and woke up around 11:40pm.The lucid dream I had felt like five minutes so I guess it was a reasonable time for it to start.
