What Do You Think of Our Culture?

It seems that over the past few weeks, I have been thinking more and more about lucid dreaming and the people I know behind it.
We dreamers don't have the conventional idea of a culture, but I still think it counts.
Lucid dreaming has been connecting people on this forum for a long while now. I think it's amazing that we have come together with a common interest, and it seems a lot of us are like minded.
Yet, there is also a lot of diversity, and mixing. Some believe in things that other's don't, such as shared dreaming, astral projection, etc.

So, I guess my real question would be, "Has lucid dreaming, and even this site, had/have a large impact on your life?"

I know it has on mine. I'm living a completely different life style than before I found this art. I'm happy with the way my life is going, and I have met a lot of great people along the way.
What has this site done for you?

Thanks, looking forward to your responses. I don't make threads a lot, so consider this a rare occurrence.

What brought me to this forum was my fascination with lucid dreaming combined with a growing feeling of isolation. I was writing hundreds of pages of dream reports a year, but had no one to really talk to on a regular basis about it. Through the Internet I managed to find a few other practitioners in my local area, but we're all too busy in RL to get together very often.

What has kept me on this forum is the great attitude of the core community. There's always a warm welcome extended to new people, and plenty of helpful advice for those with questions. As you point out, people here hold a lot of different and even incompatible ideas about lucidity and dreaming, ranging from the scientific to the spiritual to the downright occult, but disagreements tend to be expressed respectfully, without putting other people down. I'm really impressed by this, especially given how unpleasantly people act towards one another in certain other dark corners of the net.

There's so much encouragement, open-minded experimentation, and fresh ideas for techniques and tasks to try, that browsing these forums regularly makes it easier to keep up my motivation!

I have been thinking a lot about our world lately and relationships internationally. I've been a bit disappointed by the amount of hate that is still so prevelant everywhere. I think shared interests like lucid dreaming and this forum are really great to help people all over the world connect in a positive way, like you said.
Lucid dreaming has impacted my life by being a medium of creativity and a hobby. It has also changed my perception of reality and has increased my presence and level of awareness in my daily life...which is what life is all about!

I have maybe a lucid dream once a week, although they don't last more than a minute. It really frustrates me that some days I have to get up early for work and can't really attempt a wb2b - anyone quit a job or something to give themselves more LDing opportunities?!

Quitting a job for the sake of lucid dreaming is a sign of addiction, so I definitely don't think you should go that far.
It would be a much better idea to go to bed earlier and adjust your sleep schedule according to when you need to get up for work.

I came to this site for some advice; my dreams are horrific, I Keep waking myself up. Lucid dreams is a reaction I learned as a child due to nightmares.

What brought me here was the need to share this with someone and learn, of course. I knew no one in real life who was interested in this, much less practice it themselves. It was a good year afterwards that I happened to meet someone who practiced. I have learnt a lot here and I love how people are always willing to help. As you said, many of us seem to be like-minded, because this is just not a regular hobby, which makes the forum a very peaceful one. Unlike other forums, I don't think we come across trolls that often. So yeah, I think lucid dreamers can easily bond whatever their origin and I like this little culture of ours

For me lucid dreaming took that boring routine out of my life which sometimes gave me a claustrophobic feeling.
If you read this do a reality check, you will thank me later...
