How to get motivation when methods aren't working?
I might be wrong but, I don't think someone else can help you much with motivation when it comes to lucid dreaming.. Mainly because we all lucid dream for different, personal reasons. The best way to get motivated is to think of all the amazing things you can do/want to do in lucid dreams. Or read other people's success stories, if that inspires you.
What he said ^
But think of stuff like, 'this is my world, I can do anything I want' or think 'I can change the weather'
And the fun thing is, you can do anything you want, anything you can think of, it may take awhile, but you can use that as motivation. If you can't do anything in your 1st or any lucid dream you have, you have to keep working on it, so it's like levelling up in a game, but in real life for this matter, and getting new powers each lucid dream you have :D Just keep working and use that as motivation :)
how bad do you want it? are you looking everyday at your hands are you standing up in the middle of the night to write down your dream and do a wbtb? what are you doing? it is possible and it is not as hard as a lot of people say. stay consistent dont switch methods every other day try it for a long time. everybody dreams so it is possible. Everytime you try you get better it might not seem like it but you know what you are doing you are getting calmer and better when you are doing a method. dont overthink things to much. just keep doing what you are doing and stay consistent.
motivation? you can do WHAT EVER THE F@@!#$K YOU WANNA DO you can fly you can eat a cotton candy horse that is drowning in a sea of freaking white chocolate. you can reunite with your dead friend or family. you can poop the biggest most extreme doodoo in the world and it would smell like roses. even touching a freaking rug is amazing. oh yea and a lot of people seem to be motivated by the lucid sex. also you can go deeper i don't know if you are afraid of something you can face your biggest fears a lucid dream after that you wont be as scared of them in real life.
i hope this is enough just use your own imagination be creative everything is possible.
Take a break for a few days and then resume your efforts, you might be surprised during your break getting a lucid dream!
How long have you been trying? What exactly have you been working on?
PercyLucid, I have been trying on and off for about 8 months, but trying pretty hard the last 2 weeks. I have for the most part been doing MILD, and a little bit of WILD. I got very close with a WILD. It's harder to get motivated when I am not seeing any fruit from my efforts. When you say take a break, do you mean everything? Like even dream journaling and reality checking?
Thanks!
no man don't take a break it wont help because as you see you are doing breaks all over the place you say you are doing it for 8 months on and off why don't you try doing it for a while be dedicated. (worst motivation ever take a break) what are you doing with MILD how many times a day do you do reality checks
I do reality checks whenever I walk up a staircase, so 20-50 times a day.
and do you really think about it? or do you just look? what worked for me is i looked at my hands and really asked myself (in my head) am i dreaming? after 3 weeks i had my first lucid.
how many times a week can you write down a dream? do you remember them everyday? (i dont i remember around 3-4 days of the whole week)
Nbent412, have you identified a set of dream signs? Reality Checks are good but generally confirm your dream state, and which you perform because you are tipped off by seeing a dream sign. If you are journalling daily and recall at least a dream each night, you should have some dream signs you've identified.
1) make the decision to dedicate to the practice - as others have said, on again off again will go nowhere. Dedicate serious time, like a year, to do your utmost every day
2) read and follow LaBerge, his A Course In Lucid Dreaming gives excellent step by step exercises that if you do them dilligently will absolutely result n lucid dreams within a month or so (timing s different for everyone of course)
I try to think about the reality checks as much as possible, but sometimes it is hard when I am rushing somewhere.
Yes, I have identified 3 dream signs. I will list them in order of how often they appear:
1. My mom (almost every dream)
2. My sister (3/4 of my dreams
3. The rest of my family together (1/2 of my dreams)
My problem with those is that I see my family ALL the time, so it would be hard to do a reality check every time I saw a family member of mine. For instance, in my dreams last night (I remembered 4).
1: My little brother
2: My mom and my sister
3: I was looking for my mom
4: My dad, my mom, and my sister.
And about the dream recall, I generally have pretty good dream recall. On average I remember 3-6 dreams every night. Every once in a while I don't remember any though.
Thanks for all your comments, I'm gonna keep working!
