What was your longest DEILD-chain?

This morning I woke up after 11 LDs all chained together using DEILD, I could've induced more but after more than an hour of LDing I thought it was already afternoon by now. Unfortunatly it was stil early morning and I was too awake to go back to sleep at this point.
Some interesting things I noticed:

-The more LDs you chain the less vivid they become, the last 3 LDs probably lasted a minute and I had very little control. (No flying, teleporting, ...)
-After multiple dreams you create a starting-hub area where all your LDs begin, for me it was a dusty cheap store without any windows.
-Time spent between LDs gets longer and longer the more you chain, probably because you need to wake up and stay awake at some point to start your day. (Longest waiting time was 8 seconds, shortest 1-2 seconds.)

My question is, how long was your longest DEILD-chain and did you notice some weird patterns like I did?

This is very common for me. Longest chain probaly goes past 20 chained deild. A whole night of lucid dreaming. Felt like i was dreaming for days :D.
I took me forever to learn to stay in dream longer without waking up and using deild to continue. Many of them were also unstable so i learned that by following dream story and becoming more aware little by little made my lucids much longer and allowed me to do stuff like flying without waking up.

20 LDs, holy cow!

This does however create a little problem for me as I want to start tagging in my DJ again and I just can't handle writing down that many dreams... maybe I should bundle them in one LD-story. About the dream-story and following it to get more aware sounds good.

I just had a 3 lucid dream chain earlier today from a nap.............
but my lucids got longer at the end instead of the beginning. My first lucid was about 5 minutes long......i did a RC by counting my fingers...had 12 fingers and went lucid. I then started stabilizing by deepening the phase and calling out verbal commands and rubbing things and touching things. Then i started flying around and it crumbled.....

i thought i woke up....did a rc again laying in bed and counted my fingers.....this time i had 7 fingers.....went lucid again during a false awakening......looked around and it was the same room where my last lucid left off.....i started flying around and summoning people......i kissed a couple of fictional characters......then i went outside....not everyone i summoned showed up. this second lucid session was about 10 minutes long.....i actually walked around and just looked at the dreamscape.....i guess i did that for too long because.....

I woke up again.....im laying in bed again......counted my fingers again and my thumb was missing! Im like "Fuck!" how many times is this gonna happen???....and again
I was in the very same "dream version" of my bedroom.

This 3rd time.....i get up.....go outside and start flying around my neighborhood......im flying fast around my city.....and im flying so fast its hard for me to stop myself when I want to turn....and its more vivid and realistic then my first two lucids....im flying around so fast i start to get cold from the wind blowing in my face....
i summon someone down below and i see them.......
then i land have some more fun....this lucid was at least 15 minutes long.....


this was my longest deild chain ever.
and yes, like you, they all started out in the same "hub".....that kept repeating itself in what seemed like an infinite set of false awakenings, lol

About 3 weeks ago I had my first DEILD chain of about 10-15 LDs, it was awesome. There was a progression of starting locations, some were the same place for a while ("oh, back here again!"). They were all about the same medium level of awareness. I stopped trying to go back in because I wanted to try to count them up and journal.

I think I tend to measure these differently. Rather than count how many DEILD's I did (and I would lose track of that anyway), I think of all that chaining as a single LD event. In other words, I didn't chain together a bunch of separate LD's with as many DEILD's, but instead I got one single LD to spread across many awakenings/REM periods. So I guess I would say that the longest DEILD chain I had lasted at least 4 hours (maybe more), with probably a half-dozen or so DEILDs, but it was, to me, all one single dream.

Because I didn't count -- and didn't care about counting -- separate LD's and DEILD's, I guess I don't really qualify to post here, but I wanted to do so anyway, just to say that for me chaining DEILD's isn't about having as many LD's as possible, but having an opportunity to stay in one single excellent dream for an extended amount of time that vastly exceeds that provided by nature and my allotted REM periods. This is especially true when the dream has great value to me; quality trumps quantity every time, for me.

My record is 14.

Not sure if this actually qualifies as a DEILD, but the other night at about 4am I went back to sleep, straight into a lucid dream. Its duration was maybe 10 or 20 minutes (estimate) and then everything went black. The blackness coalesced into another dream, again with lucidity right from the very beginning, and this dream went for perhaps another 10 to 20 minutes. Then the black, then into a dream, etc, etc This continued until I awoke at about 6:30am. I would guess I had about 10 or 15 dreams this way that night.

All of these dreams had a similar flavour and seemed to be set in different parts of the same dream city. It was vivid and realistic, with vibrant colours and sounds. Although I could control what I wanted to do, I found myself for the most part just enjoying what was happening around me and interacting with my environment. I even remembered a couple of my LD goals and attempted them. One of them being to consciously interact with my subconscious.

What an awesome night. I am hoping for many more nights like this.

I just had my first successful DEILD but could only do 2 because I had to wake up.

17 LDs in a row before I broke it.

Did you recall all 17 dreams? That is amazing :)

Five-chain here :) But three of them were quite long. I ended it intentionally to not forget the earliest dreams.

I do recall having a chain of several different dreams where I remained lucid.

I went lucid because the dream was set in a video game city and the dream sign prompted me to go lucid. My lucidity stayed when the situations changed but in the last dream that I recalled in the chain, my lucidity was becoming weaker.

I don't remember the number of dreams in that chain as I often recall only some of the dreams in a single night. Usually, my lucidity disappears when a situation changes so why that was different, I don't know.

As for the actual doing of the DEILD, it's pretty simple and straightforward. Remain still, with a quiet/dreamy mind, and just keep your mind lightly on the dream you just exited, and drift off to sleep again.

Successful DEILDs though depend on the coming together of many factors. But to be ready for those moments when the stars do align, practice doing the above. You may want to alternate trying DEILD with doing thorough recall, though, because if you drift off to sleep again memory of prior dreams can become weaker.

It's quiete simple, I wake up by my alarm after 6 hours of sleep and it's still dark outside.
I relax, keep my mind sharp and wait for a sweet spot where I feel slightly dizzy and floaty, at this point I think about rolling out of my body.
If done at the right time my mind will start the simulation and bam, I'm in my bedroom yet if I do an RC it tells me I'm in a dream...

I enjoy my dream and when I wake up I stay still, relax, wait (if done correctly not longer than 2 seconds) and bam, I can roll out of my body again starting a new lucid dream. I often start in my dream-bedroom but sometimes also find myself somewhere else.

Well, as these guys just said, I think if you are doing DEILD chains, the best bet is to use DEILD techniques! ;)

I think that the only difference between a single DEILD and an DEILD chain is your interest in continuing the dream. If you want to keep the dream alive, or just really want to continue your LD journey if even through a different dream, that desire, coupled with a sense of calm confidence, should be all you need to hang onto your self-awareness and chain away... that, and a body that is interested in staying asleep, of course.

They weren't DEILDs but I became lucid for 5-20 minutes at a time 6 times. & like you said, the earlier ones became less vivid the more times I became lucid. I also had a few moments of getting scared about not waking up (but I guess if you were chaining DEILDs, this wouldn't be a problem), of course after waking up I realized how nonsensical this was lol

Thanks everyone, i already am very familiar with the process of DEILD... remain still after wake up, keep your eyes closed, think of previous dream, imagine new one or just anchor yourself and wait for the dream/transition to happen.

But the missing piece for me is the transition part. What i do is stay still, using anchor and wait to hopefully fall asleep consciously with awareness. When i have success, I dont notice it because I don't know when transition has happened because i dont get any sensations, HI's or something that will tell me. During the process I will either lose focus, blackout or fall asleep and later, could be moments later or next subsequent awakening i will wake up or be in False Awakening laying in bed trying to fall asleep or doing my anchor. Most of the times i will do nose plug RC and if i am in False Awakening get up and move on or if am awake for real i will try not to move more than i already had and do my anchor and wait for transition again.

I think LDman already got this transition thing figured out and thats why he is having success with this.
I also need to know successful way to reenter the dream and to notice when transition has happened and i am in False Awakening without having to move to disturb my trance.

For me the transition in DEILD is a very subtle thing, with very little interruption to the dream, except maybe some fadeout of imagery, and some recognition of my waking-life environment, like the back of my sleep mask or the feel of the blankets. In a sense, it is little more than a momentary pause or blip in the dream while my body keeps up with my interest in staying asleep. I think that one of the nice things about DEILD is its lack of a substantial and potentially distracting transition.

This of course could just be me, but what if it isn't? Perhaps, Imaginary, your problem might be that you are looking for, or waiting for, something that is not substantially there. Something to think about, at least...

I hope you'll soon also get the hang of it, unfortunatly for me the hard work and stress I get from my senior year is weighing down on me, preventing me from doing my LD stuff. I'm usually to busy making sure I can actually sleep at all at night.

I hear you and Sageous talk about a 'transition' but honestly I've never noticed it, I just notice my mind wandered of for a while and if I manage to snap back I feel dizzy and I notice slow waving patterns in the darkness of my eyelids. To illustrate how it feels entering a dream simply go to your bed, just lay down like normal and try rolling your body to the right or left, you should feel the resistance of your sheets. Now lay on top of your sheets, try rolling now and notice how much easier it goes, this is what it feels like to roll into a dream.

I have had a chain of maybe 11 tops, more often 4-7. That was when I was able to count them, because of my epic transitions. And sorry sageous, I have to say it, but I love my transitions. Maybe because I never had any longer epic LDs.

But last maybe 5 times, I have lost my transitions. I no longer call them DEILD chains, but lucid events. My chains, even the longest ones lasted maybe 20 min. But these events last from 30-60 min.

I don't feel the transitions no more :( What I experience is me saying "oh, the dream has ended. I'm just gonna sit here wait for another lucid." Then I immediately realize "wait a minute, I'm still here, in a dream, and I'm lucid." So I either try to force a transition by force of habit, most often a falling backwards sensations, which I'm so fond of. Or I just stand up from sofa and walk away.

I think realizing that I'm still there was the hardest part. But since I have done it, and wrote it down, and thought about it, now I just remember it when in limbo between dreams.
