How to get my dream to form my body?

Throughout my NL dreams, I do not really have as sense of my body. There are visual cues, and possibly auditory (I'm not really sure if I just know/am aware of what someone says or if the auditory signal is actually reproduced in my dream;it's probably the same).

If I am dreaming about, say, eating something, sucking on something or smelling something, sometimes my dreams get a note of taste or smell, but they last only for as long as I am doing the sense-related activity in the dream. However, I don't really recall having a body in any of my dreams ever. I don't see my hands, don't feel my weight, I just simply don't have one.

Today, during a nap, I experienced a random DEILD. Felt all the shakes and electricity in my body as I entered the dream. What I saw in front of me was not vivid, it was some form of my room, unlit. I tried to move. However, as I said before, I really don't have a body in my dreams, none that I know of. Trying to move turned out to be impossible; I was paralyzed. What I assume I was attempting here was to move my real body, and that wouldn't work.

In the dream, I started sinking backwards and downwards, which seems to be usual in my short lucids. Trying to move once more, I woke up. It was a FA, but then even that ended and I found myself awake again.

So the question for you guys is, how do I implant the idea of my dream body in my dreams. Should I, instead of trying to move, focus on trying to form my body? if I experience the paralysis inside a dream, how do I deal with it?

Throughout all of this, I am still really happy I actually am able to get LDs semi-regularly. Sure, they last for a second, but they exist. Random DEILDs ftw.

That's an interesting problem. In the DEILDs where I have begun with no body, I just say "f*** this" and get up and walk away. The body just forms. I also did a Homer Simpson "BORING" which automatically ejected me from some movie scene and gave me a body. So try telling your dream next time it is boring :)

I might try that. However I worry if I try to imagime my body I will just focus on my sleeping body which would disrupt the dream. Eh, at least it's progress.

You might also try pretending you have a body (go through the motions of doing things until one forms, or perform routine behaviors such as checking your watch or pulling out a cellphone). LaBerge suggest stealing a body from a DC as well.

There are usually no DCs in my Lucids, at least in my recent DEILDs. What I'm gonna try to do next is just lay still for a while and try to form my dream body. Checking my watch or something might work as well. Thanks

This is not something I struggle with, I always seem to have a body.

But you can try: rubbing your hands, and watching them while you do it. If you "can't" then imagine you're doing it. Also, giving myself a full-body pat-down (chest to legs) with my hands has always brought a full dream body into the dream.

Something I haven't tried but others have had success with is doing a silly little dance, hopping from foot-to-foot.

It doesn't need to be a human body! If you are not already strongly imprinted on the pattern of a human body in your dreams, this seems like a great opportunity to experiment with other kinds of "bodies," whether animal, vegetable, mineral, or ethereal. Get creative with the types of limbs and sense-organs you try to manifest, it could be a lot of fun!

The chief sensory experience of embodiment is tactility, in that it is easier to imagine seeing or hearing from a disembodied perspective than experiencing tactile sensations without a body. So I agree with FryingMan that rubbing your hands (or whatever you manifest in place of hands) would be a useful practice. Also try to feel the textures of the surfaces around you, as much as possible... it's a great way to improve your traction in the dreamstate, whether your have a clearly-defined body or not.
