I have had lucid dreams every night for as long as I can remember. I'm 13, I remember when I was 4, I don't remember having a single nightmare, I don't know about my dreams from when I was 3 years old or younger though.

That's why I experienced just a few lucid dreams as a kid. I was having nightmares and realizing it was a dream.

I'd say that's about as natural as it gets!

I am also natural and being having few lucid dreams per month for my whole life.
I also have a lot more "semi lucid" dreams.

Nightmares have been and are pretty usual to me and that might have something to do with me being natural.
I remember being like 7, and telling other kids that they don't need to fear their nightmares because it's just a dream and they can control it.
Nobody knew what I was talking about
I also remember that in case i had nightmare, I would rapidly close my eyes which would end the dream.
After that I would not move and try to have what i now know is DEILD.

I've never lucid dreamed in my life, but some might find this interesting:

I've always had vivid dreams as far as I can tell. I'd chalk this up to my artistic interests and the fact that I read really detailed fantasy books as a kid (the lord of the rings in grade 3, for example). I've also always had really sensitive hearing, and I tend to have a much more heightened awareness of my surroundings than others. I also tend to recall my dreams often, recalling 2-3 a day.

As a kid, I had a few nightmares. As soon as I had a falling dream, I tried to fly to get myself out of it, and over the course of several similar dreams I learned to fly really well. After that, I didn't really have many nightmares--or I didn't see them as nightmares, because I subconsciously knew that I could fly. I also learned to like adrenaline and take things as they were. Thus, I never got any motivation to lucid dream to deal with my nightmares because I had already dealt with them early on and I haven't had one for over a decade.

As for noticing things 'off' with my dreams, my dreams, while fantastical at times, have always been very logical with very few plot holes. My mind treats me being able to fly as normal since I learned how to fly in steps in previous dreams. Also, when I fly, people notice it and I know it's often a unique ability, though I have met other fliers in my dreams.

And yes, I was interested in the paranormal/the occult in my teens.

For those natural lucid dreamers who have heightened awareness, do you also have vivid dreams? And for those who don't have heightened awareness, are your dreams less vivid? I wonder if vivid dreams and a high recall are connected to heightened awareness rather than them being connected to lucid dreams.

Mm. I know I have a very low pseudocloinesterase level. Don't know how that might play in.

I have been lucid dreaming every night for as long as I can remember, so I suppose I would be considered a natural. I did have one reoccurring nightmare as a very young child. I'm not sure exactly when that nightmare stopped or if I had any control over it stopping (if it was somehow connected to my lucid dreaming). I haven't put any effort into LD's though, just at some point every night in my dream, I realize (and sometimes tell others around me) that I'm dreaming and they're in my dream. From that point I also realize I have control over everything. Sometimes I choose to control things and sometimes I say that I'd like to see where the dream takes me without interference. However at some point I usually will interfere anyways, whether it's simply unlocking a locked door, or flying to a new destination.
