Methods Not Working
So at the beginning of Thanksgiving break I had my four lucid dream. This got me to research even more than I ever have into the subject. I have had experiences with lucid dreams before and I have dreams frequently that I remember and record.
However, after researching the different methods for the induction of lucid dreams and preforming some, I have not been able to have even a non-lucid dreams for two nights. I used the WILD method both nights and even set an alarm of a soothing voice tell me that i'm asleep so that I could hear it in my dream. However, non of these methods have worked and have blocked me form having dreams in general.
Last night, I made it a point to not use any methods and I had a non-lucid dream. Is there anything I am doing wrong? Any tips? Thanks!

Hi Brad. Everything takes time. Spontaneous lucids can sometimes make us feel full of energy, and ready to devote lots of time to LDing. When we do not see immediate results, we can feel disappointed.
So continue to practice. Give it a few weeks of practice before deciding something doesn't work. WILD techniques probably are not blocking you from dreaming. I would drop the alarm, though, unless you really cannot wake up without it. It can cause you to lose a dream upon awakening.
And do some DILD day work :)
EDIT: I read wrong about the alarm. I have not experimented with audio cues, though I personally feel they probably are not super helpful. They certainly are not necessary.

Thank you very much for your response.

You have been trying since the beginning of the thanksgiving break? Isn't that like less than a week?
What have you read on the subject of LDing? What threads and books?

I think positivity plays a big role in lucid dreaming success.
Allow yourself to celebrate small successes, not just the "end result" of having a lucid dream, so you can continue to feel positive about your progress. Otherwise you might start to feel drained and disappointed that your efforts are not yet paying off.
Remember that learning to lucid dream takes time and practice, so don't lose hope!
What is your current recall practice?
Staying very still upon waking can help keep you in a sleepy state where it's easier to recall dreams, without the distractions of waking life thoughts.
If you find you have no memories upon waking, try to focus on the feelings you're left with. Sometimes you'll find that dream fragments come back to you if you give it a moment longer.
*Moved to General Lucid Discussion*
(Education Center is for more formal research, rather than general discussion.)

Stay positive. I found that I have had lucid dreams on days I was lazy with my reality checks and no dreams on days I was obsessively diligent. The state you're in when you go to bed plays a big role in remembering your dreams. This is why I recommend a warm shower or bath before bed. Regular meditation also helps with awareness, which should in turn help you with your goals.
This stuff takes time. Practice, practice, practice.

Thank you all for your inputs. I deeply appreciate your help. So another question. Should I stick with one method until it works or try various methods to see which one works best? Thanks!

Generally you want to stick with a technique for a while before trying another. Methods stay the same, techniques change.
