      Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective and Lucid Dreaming

So I've been officially diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. That means I have schizophrenia and a mood disorder, in my case, depression. Would it still be safe for me to try lucid dreaming?

      Hey there!
I have been managing a schizoaffective disorder since I was a teenager, and I personally see no risk at all in practising lucid dreaming with this condition.
Lucid dreaming practices include heightening your awareness of what's real and what's not, so if anything, I think there could be potential benefits to your mental health.

Dreaming has been a great source of positivity for me during my down times, and it's given me something to focus on and channel my energy towards.
I've also used LD for therapeutic purposes. I feel that dreams are a great environment in which to practice positive thinking strategies like CBT, because you can get instant feedback from the dream for both positive and negative thinking (like improved or decreased dream control.) I've taken those skills out of my dreams and applied them in waking life, and it's helped me to become a lot more mindful and relaxed during stressful situations.

I hope you enjoy your lucid dreaming journey without fear.

Hey Pearlz, I've had schizophrenia for about 13 years and been lucid dreaming for 26 years. I have them regularly and can tell you its perfectly safe. Like Dreamer said, if anything it can be of benefit to your mental health and not the opposite.
