I'm really paranoid now.

I had a lucid dream and it was fine until I decided "oh what if I talk to get the dream to do what I want" because I've been just thinking in my head.. But then I got really paranoid that if I talked, it would come out my physical mouth, the dream kinda started becoming translucent and I started seeing my room but I was still dreaming... Can anyone help me out? Would of my words came out to where my family would hear??

When I talk/communicate in a dream, I don't talk with my physical mouth.(I think :p)
Normally you wouldn't talk, I think because of sleep paralysis or something?
But there are people who dream and talk out loud, my sister does that and I have a friend who does this.

Paranoia is good for the soul.

Personally, when I talk in mine lucid dreams, I do not try to talk with mine mouth. Instead, I talk telepathically; with mine mind. I developed this technique and similar techniques to prevent mineself from inadvertently moving mine real body when DEILDing or WILDing.

Ever seen that American ghost movie (I forget what it was called) starring Guinan from Star Trek: The Next Generation? If so, recall that one scene with the insane train man. "Your body isn't real! You think you're really wearing those clothes!?"

With lucid dreaming, a simple but crucial thing to remember is that it's all in your head. So instead of trying to talk with your mouth or move with your arms or legs, try to command your "body" in your dreams to move with your mind; use your mind as a remote control. It can be difficult at first, but once it becomes habit, it's infinitely convenient.

I worry about that too, but after a few LDs I just stopped caring. Let them hear whatever they hear! Let 'em be moans, kisses, or sweet talk (whatever I'm doing in there lol) òwó

I know how you feel, I had a lucid dream last night and thought I was in public and I didn't want to yell out any dream commands or anything because I was worried I'd shout in real life. Just trust sleep paralysis to stop it!

Thanks guys! I'll probably just act like nothing's wrong in the dream and tell myself I won't talk outloud in my sleep! xD I should probably buy a full version auto recorder like the "DoISleepTalk" app just to be sure!

I used to be afraid I was sleeping in class. That made me very nervous about doing anything.

That 80's relic movie is called Ghost. And that scene is awesome for a lucid dreamer, actually! I was watching that scene the other day and had similar thoughts.

RubyDoo: There is something called RBD (REM Behavior Disorder) that causes people to act out their dreams, but if you are not sure if you have it, then you probably don't. That being said, it is possible to break REM atonia, either to speak or move, and this usually results in a normal person waking up. I have punched a wall (which really hurt), spoken to dream characters "out loud," and kicked my WL legs while trying to fly. So it is definitely possible to move and speak. However, it really doesn't happen much in my experience. If you have never had it happen, you probably have nothing to worry about.

You know, like everyone else, I'd say you're good. I have learned that sometimes, depending on how close you are to wakefulness, your mouth might be able to talk and/or do other things. I say this because, a few days ago, I was sleeping in my bed. It was about 9 am in the morning and I was inside of a dream. In the dream I was washing my mouth with mouthwash, and once I finished with the mouthwash, I started spitting it out. Well, I spit about 10 times into the sink in the dream, but not only did I spit in the dream, I also spit on my pillow in real life 10 times. I know this because I woke up right as I was spitting the 10th time so I caught myself in the act. I felt the rest of my pillow and it was soaked with my spit, it wasn't the best feeling ever.
That being said, I think at times its possible, but it all depends on the person and some other factors.

Anyways, it's a good point about doing it when almost along up. That happens bcz sometimes sleep paralysis turns off a little bit before you actually wake up. Happens to me sometimes

Haa ohh my godd!! Well that must have been a horrible experience!! So basically can you tell you're close to waking up if the dream is fading in and out/ hazy? If so I am soo glad I didn't say what I was going to! Haha

I would say yes, you can sort of get an idea when you are close to waking up. I find that usually, when I am close to waking up I will start fading in and out of the dream, one second Ill be barely awake, and the next second I'll be halfway inside the dream. From there it will go back and forth at times. Its really hard to notice when your going in and out of the dreamstate because of how low your awareness is at the time, but if you can manage to build up a small amount of awareness you'll notice it fairly easily. Thats also exactly how most LDers take on the approach to DEILD.
In the end though, I'm sure a persons mouth doesn't have the ability to move/do anything else, all of the time because if it did I'd be waking up more frequently to some nasty, cold wet pillows. Also, if what you said in your dreams really did become audible in real life that often, I'm sure your own screaming and all of the declarations you announce in LDs such as "Give me wings now!" or anything like that, would wake you up almost immediately. Not sure if anyone else yells out their commands in dreams, but I do haha.

Had something similar, was waking up but still half-dreaming and ended up drooling on my pillow before I could stop myself.

I think it depends on how close you are to being awake, if you start feeling your physical body but still seeing the dream there's more chance you'll start partially acting things out, but if you're in the middle of the dream and don't feel anything other than your dream self I'd say you're safe to do whatever you want. It's only when you start crossing that border into wakefulness that some minor dream actions might start spilling over, but by that point you already feel more awake than asleep.

Idea:
1. Do WBTB
2. Set your mobile phone to record audio (I like Sound Recorder for Android)
3. Do WILD or whatever
4. Shout as much as possible in your LD
5. Wake up, check if you were actually shouting
6. ????
7. Try to explain to your neighbours / family that you were conducting an LD experiment

I've been doing this for at least ten years and never had an incident. I think usually if my physical body happens to start moving during a dream, it tends to wake me up immediately. Might not be a bad idea to record yourself with an audio/video recorder if you're concerned.

I've also had this feeling sometimes, of talking in real life. I normally say things like "clarity now" once I become lucid, and at times it has felt like the dream was fading away and maybe I actually say that out loud. Also, English isn't my mother tongue, so if my family heard me it would be pretty damn weird, although they've never said anything to me about it, so maybe it's just my imagination.
