A few experiences and a few questions :) (newbie post, lots of text)
Im pretty new to lucid dreaming, ive been trying to induce lucid dreams with DILD for a few weeks or so now. For now, its not too successful but thats probably because im bad at recalling dreams. i started writing a journal so thats helping a lot. I regularly do RCs during the day (asking questions and finger through palm).
Here are a few dream experiences ive had, and didnt know they had to do with lucid dreaming.
1) A strange version of sleep paralisys:
It has happened a few times. The first time it was just... shapes. Triangles, cirles, squares etc. I saw them like i was looking through a kaleidoscope. They were kinda flying towards me and eventually, as they got closer, i got scared, jumped, and somehow managed to fall out of bed. i remember i couldnt move, i couldnt stop it.
This one happened a lot of times. i remember it as a dream, not a half awake-half asleep experience. I remember runnig or walking and i would always trip over something and fall. as i fell i would always jump and wake up. thats it.
Later i learned that this was the WILD process, right?
This one is pretty disturbing, at least for me:
It happened to me only once, too.
Basically i woke up in the morning, but i didnt. I was half dreaming, half awake. Half the time eyes were open, half the time i was seeing a dream. for some reason, my head was all the way back, as in I was looking all the way back, behind, and i couldnt breather properly, my mouth was open. I would see something in a dream, then I would be barely able to open my eyes half way, it felt like my eyelids weighed a ton. Anyway, i would barely open my eyes, i would see my room and my ceiling, and then they would close by themselves and then i was back in the dream. This was alternating for 15ish minutes, maybe 20. I dont remember what was the dream about.
2) Dreams that felt half-lucid:
These dreams i could for some reason, recall a lot better. I remember i had very little control, almost unoticable. It would be usually flying or falling. The flying felt pretty real, and falling felt VERY real. But as usual, after i fell, i would wake up.
3) A mid-day OBE. Im really interested what will people say about this one, since i asked others if they experienced such a thing an noone did.
Usually at school, for some reason, when i was writing in the notebook actually. I didnt notice it when it started at all, but at one point, it felt like i was out of the body, but i couldnt see it really. I still saw what my eyes saw, but kind of more far away. I saw my hand writing, but i didnt know what was i writing, but i was doing it automatically. I felt like i was slipping more and more out of my body, and i get scared so i blink and shake my head, and then i get the feeling like i rushed back into the body, and i started seeing everything as i usually do. I can kind of barely force it. I let my eyes rest (i dont focuse anywhere) and then i just wait. if it happens, Ill blink out of the body, ususally get excited i forced it and rush back in.
4) Is this even close to getting lucid?
This is a quote from Naiya's DILD & WILD Secrets:
"So now that your body is asleep, it's time to segue into your lucid dream. So instead of focusing on changing the sounds, now you want to start visualizing yourself inside your lucid dream. At first it'll be like watching it happen on TV, but very soon your mind will accept it as the dream and you'll jump right into it naturally. This is what's known as a mental WILD."
Today i had a dream that was like a TV Commercial for a TV Show. There was even an announcer guy. It featured some people i knew. It felt like i was watching it third person view, but i wasnt in it. Was this close to getting lucid? if yes, finally, i have hope :D
Here are a few questions:
Do i have hope of becoming lucid any time soon? I know i should be patient, but Im bad at patience xD
Which technique is more succesful, DILD or WILD? Im not doing WILD, because im scared of sleep paralisys.
I was reading about ADA (all day awareness). Is it really that important to be aware of everything, all day?
I had problems, because my mind was in a way forcing WILD, while i was trying to DILD. I was setting the dream scenario after clearing my head and meditating, and while i was setting in in my mind, not willingly i started seeing figures in the HI - those colors you see when eyes closed. I had to try really hard to get rid of them and getting back to imagining the scenario in my head. I was scared that if i let the scenario form in the HI, i would slip into sleep paralisys. How do i stop WILD from happening, or should i let it?
will i for sure know that im lucid? will it be clear?
I thought with all the experiences i had related to this stuff, BEFORE i knew about it, i thought it would be easy becoming lucid, but its taking a lot of time. xD
If youre wondering why im avoiding SP, its because when i was little i had really bad nightmares all the time. I didnt want to try lucid dreaming at all, actually.
I apologize for any grammar mistakes, english is not my native language. Thanks for all your answers in advance, im really happy to be a part of this community :D
