Setting Your Intentions - Is This Something That Also Requires Practice?

So the past two nights I've been attempting intention techniques which I've learned in ETWOLD. A few nights ago was my first time taking the intention technique serious (I initially thought them to be silly) and actually trying it. Anyways I wanted to be a sleazebag for the night (one of my motivators for learning LDing :D) and to my surprise I ended up having a few dreams of that nature on the very first night! The issue was however that they were normal dreams and not lucid. On my second night of expirementing with this technique I had a few non lucid dreams of that nature as well EXCEPT they didn't pan out exactly as I wanted them to happen. One dream involved a female I used to fantasize about all the time but nothing sexual occured and the other was just weird and I just wish dream recall failed me on that one. I'm going to continue practicing the intention technique with something entirely different simply for expirimentation purposes but what I want to know is if intention setting is something that requires practice and gets honed over time?

Yes, intention setting is a skill that requires a bit of practice and that you can hone over time. It's basically an exercise in self-control of your thoughts, which instinctively want to wander to things unrelated to your intention.

The most important part of setting an intention is to make it your very last thought before you go into unconscious sleep. That way at it's most efficient.

Thanks for that reply dolphin. I tried the intention technique again last night with good success. It's been consistent going on 3 nights even though I lack lucidity and my dreams don't play out precisely as I intended to. It still strongly hints at the subject matter which I intend to dream about and I must say that I'm greatly impressed.
