Why does this happen?
Last night I had a dream about something that happened during that day. But the event that was in my dream only occurred during the day for 15 seconds. The annoying part is that I practice ADA and asking myself if I'm dreaming 30 times+ everyday for about a week now and none of that ever comes up in a dream? But a 10 second insignificant event that happens shows up vividly in my dream. Very frustrating.
The dream was me talking to this girl from school that I don't ever talk to, only because I watched a video of her on facebook for 10 seconds.

Did you find the video interesting?

Maybe it left an impression on your subcon?
At any rate, keep up the ADA and RCs. It takes a while to learn to be more aware and for this to incorporate in dreams, but awareness work pays off in the long run. Throw in some wbtbs with your practice and you'll be golden! :goodjob2:

The subconscious often selects items of interest that we don't even think of as important. We can spend the whole day incubating some fantasy, and then dream about eating Uncle Dewey ' s famous scrambled eggs with hot sauce that we haven't thought about in like a year. I don't know why this is, but it might relate back to the subconscious mind's seeming tendency to try to thwart goal-oriented behavior.

Kyle, you aren't doing in your dreams because you're doing them for the wrong purpose IWL.
You don't want to do reality checks and ADA for the sole purpose of incubating dreams where you're doing them. The purpose of ADA is to build self-awareness, your knowledge of yourself and your place in the world. This self-awareness is what causes you to think something is off in the dream. That thinking is what gives you the impulse you to do a reality check to confirm that you're dreaming, which is its purpose.
When you practice ADA correctly, you're building environmental awareness which allows you to notice things that are unusual. But, more importantly, you're building self-awareness because you're becoming more aware of everything personal. Your feelings, thoughts, motives, actions, and your place in the world, among other things. This allows you to notice even more things that are unusual, like talking to somebody you wouldn't normally talk to.
As for reality checks, you only want to do reality checks only when you experience something unusual or when a dream sign occurs IWL. This is their purpose in dreams so do them for the same purpose IWL. Do them as if you're rehearsing for the dream world.
So, as for your dream, if your self-awareness was high enough, your talking to this girl would have caused you to think something was off because you never talk to her. This would have given you the impulse to do a reality check, which would have cause you to become lucid. See where I'm getting at?
Make it a habit to rehearse for the dream world and you'll have more success.
