Step Towards Lucidity?

Last night I had this totally weird dream. Everything was mostly in place as it should be (It took place in and around my house) but the sky seemed to be a perpeptual pinkish with a streak of orange in the middle (sorta like anime sunsest can be). The dream felt like reality. I was up in my room and I glance up at my ceiling and my light/fan wasn't there and yet the whole ceiling was definitely lit. I started freaking out when shadows started dancing across it. I remember saying to myself "Waaaaaaaaaake. Waaaaaaaaaake!" (There might've been an "up" in there but I can't remember) and then I woke up. I do regret not trying to control the dream once I did realize what it was, but I was probably too panicked (dream wise) at the time.

If you remember being consciously aware of why you were shouting “Wake!” (that is, because you wanted to wake up from the dream), then you were definitely lucid to some extent—congratulations! Even if you were merely shouting it without quite being aware of why, though, I'd take it as a sign that you're getting closer. :)

Agree!

Nightmares or bad dreams can make you lucid enough to just tell yourself to wake up, don't feel bad that you didn't try to stay there, you were scared.

The fact that you got to that point where you KNEW you were dreaming is one step towards lucidity, because next time you will realize you are dreaming, in a bad dream or a good dream, you'll have second thought about whether waking up or try to stay in the dream and control it.

Glad to hear you had a lucid dream and you were confident about it!
So first I have a question to ask you. Did you feel or were paralyzed while you were experiencing this? If you were you should know that you just experienced a WILD with sleep paralysis. And if not, you should never be scared when experiencing such things. You should know that when you are dreaming you are the creator and destroyer. Nothing can harm you and nothing will harm you unless you let it to. You have to be relaxed and confident!
And an advice. You should always do a reality check when you are not sure if you are dreaming or not. You should even double check to be absolutely sure.

I'm not sure if I was paralyzed or not in the dream. I might've been because I was lying in bed unmoving. I honestly don't remember because that was maybe last week? I haven't had anything even remotely lucid like that happen since, sadly.
