how many weeks (or months) needed for get lucid from DILD or WILD ?

Hey guys,
first of all, im from Indonesia n have bad english. So hopes u can understand what im saying. I have checked this forum for the thread about how long is needed for get lucid from DILD or WILD ? which one is faster? I know WILD and DILD r depend on their users. So if u r DILD user how long u needed ? and for WILD user how long u needed for get ur first LD ?

im learning LD with DILD now, coz i hate to get SP (i have a bad exp with SP when i was a child). N could we get our LD without WBTB method??

The average time for first LD following the LaBerge program laid out in his book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" (you should absolutely read this if you have not already) seems to be about 1 month. Some will get their first DILD sooner, some later. Follow it diligently, and you WILL start recalling dreams more and more, and get lucid more and more.

My recommendation for WILD is to wait until you get a few DILDs, then start trying for WILD on occasion when you don't absolutely need a full night of sleep (unless you're the lucky type who can fall back asleep easily/quicly all through the night).

thx for ur reply. Its hard for me to back to sleep, but i tried WBTB method these several days, it was hard to sleep back but i still could handle it. So i will follow ur suggest, i will train my DILD till i get my first LD then try WILD method. I hope i can make it less than 1 month :)

Start by working initially on dream recall, and on noticing the natural wakings throughout the night (without using an alarm). Start studying relaxation techniques as well, because being able to quickly get back to sleep several times throughout the night is a very important skill in lucid dreaming, if you don't naturally fall asleep quickly. Work on LaBerge' recommended daytime exercises (prospective memory, and critical reflection/intention, both discussed in the book I referenced).

today when i woke up, i still remember my dream when i was lying on my bed. N when i remember all parts, i get up from my bed to my DJ, but i forgot almost all dreams (i still remember it when i was lying). Is it normal???

My first one took about 6 weeks, but it was short and it took about 6 more LDs over say 6 more weeks for them to be anything more than a quick flash. So, let's say 12 weeks before my first full fledged LD. These were all DILD (but that term did not exist yet, back then)

When you have a LD, do you remember it clearly when u wake up? i meant your first LD. If we have weak dream recall skill, can we get a LD from DILD ? I think DILD suits me the most, coz i hate SP

I would remember that I suddenly knew I was dreaming, and maybe that I had been standing at the top of the stairs.

I use DILD and have had over 250 LDs. Time for first one can vary. Reading LaBerge i had one in 3 days but that was pretty fast i think. As I posted before LD recall far outshines my normal dream recall. Never had SP.

Plz share your daily practice if u dont mind. I have practiced for about 2 weeks. Never got LD till now. Thx btw

^^ Nove13, have you started reading LaBerge's Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming yet? ETWOLD contains all the day practice and night practice you need for your first couple dozen LDs.

In general:

+ day practice: question your state a lot during the day; when you realize you've zoned out, tune back in and pay attention, over and over and over again; critical reflection moments, and RCs. At the end of the day review your memories of the day in as much detail as you can. Meditation. Experiment with many approaches to these basics and stick with the ones that feel "right" to you

+ night practice: bedtime intention (for recall, noticing wakings, getting lucid), WBTB, WILD, MILD, DEILD, recall dreams

+ be patient, it takes time to change your awareness habits that you've built up over your life. LDing is a life-long pursuit

+ do not quit. If you practice consistently, diligently, and without stopping, the results WILL come.

+ set goals and frequently re-evaluate them and your practice.

i downloaded it but just read view pages Fry. Will continue it till finish :d

All of my LD's have been from DILD, it took me 4-5 weeks of practice to get my first LD. Once you get your first LD it's much easier to get more, it took me 5 weeks again to get my first LD after I came back from a long break, in the 4 weeks after that though I've had another 10 LD's. As Sivasson said most will be short at first, a few seconds maybe, but it will gradually get better and better. My LD this morning was about 1-2 minutes long.
