Something that i could not find on the forum

Lucid dreaming is a rare thing indeed. Many people that I ask about dreams are telling me that they don't have dreams. Few ever had lucid experiences and even fewer can control a lucid dream.

But there is another rare condition/state of the lucid dream. Something less common that I just could not find on the forum. The Lucid Nightmare. When we dream our unconscious mind speaks to us in a way/language that we do not know ( images, actions and other things that are random at first sight ). A Lucid Nightmare is when you are lucid in a dream and all of a sudden weird things happen. Demons appear, weird beings, whispers and other things. I myself had 2 kind of dreams in the past month. I can recall only 5 ( that i can remember very well ) in my whole 3 year lucid dreaming experience.

In this Lucid Nightmare, I was on a obstacle course with my girlfriend. We were doing parkour, driving cars, climbing and other things in the city and the nearby zones. Suddenly I saw a crow hanging from a tree. I stared for a fraction of a second at it. The land below me started to turn black and my right side of the body turned black. I opened my left eye ( in real life, in my bed ) but my right eye was still closed and I was still visiualising the dream and how my right side of the body was going darker. I could not control it and I could not wake up ( this paralyse lasted for only 3-4 seconds, but it felt like more ). I was hearing a witch-like voice whispering me "cthulhu cthulhu cthulhu" ( I read H.P. Lovecrafts horror novels many years before ). I felt like my mind was trying to scare me. I had encountered more scary situations, but I woke up with a little headache that lasted for only few minutes.

Some other Lucid Nightmares were similar. One was with many fake wake ups and until he didn't show me all I could not wake up.

So, I was wondering if anyone had a lucid nightmare. I barely have some real life friends that ever had lucid dreams and this is why I am so interested.

Whenever I become lucid in a nightmare I tend to run away. But lately I've been trying to use love and good thought in my dreams to help me. I remember having a scary dream about a girl chasing me. I was lucid and she seemed scary. But as soon as I started singing positive things I heard a voice of a woman singing, than the girl who i was afraid of suddenly tried to kiss and hug me. I accepted the hug but i pushed her back so she wouldn't kiss me. XD It was nice to see what i was afraid of turn good. There are some characters that i have difficulty changing but I don't regret trying. : 3

That sounds scary. I've experienced the eye and paralysis thing too before.The best thing to do when your paralyzed in a dream is to wait it out a bit and think positive thoughts. Even dream characters can help pull you out of the paralysis but its best to be patient I think.

Yes.. The lucid nightmare. I've read lots of experiences that I could just barely find before I registered on the forums. This was also one of the things that completely tipped me off to not lucid dreaming. I've been aware of lucid dreaming for about 2 years but that whole time I decided not to do it solely because of the existence of lucid nightmares and nightmares in general. I completely regret that decision though. I've never experienced a lucid nightmare before and I really hope I don't ever. But, of course, there are the negative sides of me I want to understand, so I will eventually.

I would love to hear more experiences though and hear how people got through them. Thanks for making this thread!

When I had my dream with fake wake ups, I had a very long loop of fake wake ups. I was first on a ship with all my family members and I wanted us to go and explore, an adventure. After many landings i realised that there is something weird going on. I had a feeling that I was watched in my lucid dream, so I "woke up". I went to the living room and nobody was there so i did a reality check. I was still dreaming. Suddenly, from the door, something was coming. Something very dark. I did not see what it was, but I knew. I tried to wake up but it didn't work. I visualised nice lands with trees at the time when flowers bloom. I changed 5-6 more landscapes and I eventually woke up again. I was still dreaming. I woke up in my bed again. This happened 4-5 times I think. I had to wake up beacuse I was not aware of the time in real life and I was in a hurry. I tried to provoke a wake up by jumping out the window, but it was pointless. I lacked the fear of falling because I knew it was a lucid dream so I did not wake up. I could not do anything to wake up so I decided to be aware of my unconscious. I closed my eyes and tried a breathing technique for meditation. I visualised myslef doing that and concentrate on my breathing. For some reason I managed to wake up. It is a very disturbing feeling to be lucid and to have things happen out of your control. But it's not weird. because in a dream, no matter what kind of dream it is, you are not alone. The unconscious will always generate things.

Still trying to find a reason for this. I came up with an idea, based on the feelings I had in the lucid dream after the nightmare started, but I could not confirm it. I believe that the unconscious wants to send me a message, to tell me about something very bad that might happen and to stop fucking around. This is what the experience made me think of. Even if it is disturbing to have a nightmare in the middle of a lucid dream and to not be able to control things in it, somehow I feel more connected to my inner self.

I believe that is true for me as well. After experiencing many scenarios like you've stated I know my inner self/mind is trying to send me a message about something when I encounter vivid nightmares and FA loops. I enjoy the excitement of finding more about myself but at the same time like you stated, that lack of control freaks me out and i just want to find a place within my mind where i feel like its my sanctuary. I mostly tend to have this problem when I'm thinking about things I feel I shouldn't be thinking about and yet i still think of them. Its like i'm at war with myself. : P
