"Escape" from Reality
So something has been on my mind for some time now and i wanna share it with you guys and gals.
Is it possible to chain WILDs/DEILDs as long as you want?
Because if thats the case someone could just hook himself to some life support, auto feeders, etc... and just invent a world in his dreams and "live" there.
But this would probably be a hard thing to do and it would take an expert lucid dreamer to do such a thing if it is even possible.
So i just want opinions on this matter and if its really possible to do such a thing with the right supplies.

A big problem with this is that you won't be able to physically sleep forever by willpower alone. Eventually you just won't be tired enough to sleep and your brain is going to say "Hey, I've already slept for several hours longer than usual, it's time to wake up already."

Why would I want to escape reality. This is the true dream, and it is far more amazing than an LD. However, that is off topic, perhaps.
I have never heard of a human being able to have good lucid dreams all night long. If you stay aware trough an entire night using dream yoga, you find that much of the night is in very relaxing, ego free, sensation free zones, and other odd states. It is not just dreams.
Next, to stay asleep would require drugs, and that kind of sedation would likely decrease your chances of lucid dreaming.

I think the brain works too much in REM-sleep that you could do this for a long time and it doesn't fit the biorhythm of the body.

I suppose one could DEILD as long as they want during a single sleep cycle, but would one want to ? I DEILD as long as i can tolerate being in one position for a period of time ( back pain and restless leg syndrome). My personal best is 9-10 DEILDS over a 2 hour period, average is about 3 over 30-45 min. This problem for me is a physical limitation. The other problem I see with having a long DEILD chain is dream recall. At a certain point I recall only major events and only fragments from the first few ones. In other words, I know I done a lot of cool stuff but cant put enough of it together to recall the details. So I see myself occasionally not wanting too many DEILDS because of not wanting to forget certain experiences and purposely ending the chain. I do line your notion of inventing a world and living in it. Maybe a more realistic approach is to inventing a vacation spot an visit there. As we all know reality always rears its ugly head when we wake, but if we can wake from a vacation it would make dealing with it easier.
