How long does it usually take?

For those of you who practice DEILD and other DEILD-like techniques that require not moving upon waking up, how long does it take for waking up without moving to become a habit? Can you do anything during the day to strengthen that "wake up = stay still" connection in your brain? I've been practicing a DEILD-like technique for about two weeks with good results, but still half the time or so when I wake up I instinctively move, sometimes before I even realize I'm awake and what I was supposed to do, it's really frustrating. About how long would it take on average for someone to wake up and instinctively not move like it's second nature, if practiced every morning?
p.s. I know you can still WILD if you move but my ability to focus is crap when I just woke up seconds ago, so the faster it happens the better.

I don't know how much of a movement we can do when trying to DEILD.. For me the key about DEILD is to not make your body too awake, because you just woke from REM and don't want to let your REM go away.
Well, as experience, there was nights that I woke and spontaneously I sat on my bed. After that I realized how I was dreaming, then I just returned.
There was a night that I conected 4 DEILDs and everytime I woke I turned the side I was sleeping just to feel comfortable to return.

For me, FILD is the same too... Provided I'm not too awake, I can FILD or DEILD with ease

Maybe you just need to stop focus on not moving and start trying to realize if you're tired enough to return straight to a dream

If you want to practice any kind of dream stuff while awake, you can! You just have to pretend. In this instance I would imagine you could pretend to wake up and remember to deild, then repeat the process many times. I would bet that the more you practice during the day, the more ingrained into your mind the routine will get.

@another dreamer- this is an interesting idea, I've never thought about pretending to do a certain technique. I'll try this for WILD today. Thanks!
