How can I keep my eyes closed when i wake up?

Does anyone have some tips on how to keep my eyes closed while waking up? I appreciate any help i get :)

About 3 days ago i woke up in the middle of the night and i kept my eyes closed.
Just a few seconds later i saw a whole dreamlandscape building up and i could get right into it. This WILD lucid dream was very vivid and it was so easy to get in.

I tried to do that again last night but i just couldn't keep my eyes closed as I woke up. I didn't want to wake me up with my alarm clock because that would mess it up...
So i tried autosuggestion with the sentence "i will wake up after every REM cycle and let my eyes closed". I even woke up 4 times this night but i couldn't keep my eyes closed.

Is it ok to wake up after the REM cycles or should i try to wake me up during a dream somehow?
And is there a specific trick not to open my eyes when i wake up?

I think the main thing here is patience. In my opinion, your body is simply conditioned to open your eyes as you wake. Because this happens right at awakening, it likely does so before you're fully conscious. So its more like reflex or a conditioned response. Like any such response, it can be counter-continued, but that takes some time.

Keep remembering to 'not open your eyes' when you wake up. Keep having the intention, and keep telling yourself you will not open your eyes next time. Give it some time (days, weeks, months if needed). Over time you'll begin to have more and more awakenings where you do manage to keep them closed (but be aware there'll still be strings of awakenings when you forget), until it becomes natural to simply not open your eyes when you wake up.

Thanks! I will definately do that.

Or, maybe try a sleep mask. That way even if you do open your eyes at least no light will come in.

I do appreciate that possibly just the movement of opening your eyes might trigger the wakening response, but it's worth a go.
