DEILD - Short dreams?
Hello everyone,
Today I had my second DEILD ever... it was so intense! I saw colors that I had never seen before, such brightness!!
I have noticed that DEILDs are harder to keep going for a longer time. Does anyone have this problem as well?
How can I help my DEILDs to last longer???

Hey there,
Remember that when you're DEILD'ing, you're very very close to awakening. So you'll want to really immerse yourself into the dream straight away. Generally speaking, i've found that the more attention I pay to dream sensations, the more stable, vivid, and long the dream becomes. So when DEILD'ing, I will immediately take a moment to ground the dream. I'll look at things, touch things, listen to sounds, anything to immerse myself in the dream fully (and shift my awareness away from waking life) until I'm sure the dream is solid enough to go on.

I agree with Redrivertears. It's similar to what I normally do when I successfully DEILD. It helps to really immerse myself into the dream.

I'm beginning to realize that DEILDs are the majority of the LDs I've had my whole life. Nothing ever alerts me to the fact that I'm dreaming, I just suddenly realize I'm in a dream and become sad that it is ending. Then sometimes I remember to take the opportunity to do a DEILD and they're great, but always very short.

In my experience, the most vivid and memorable LDs I have are DEILDs. However, often they are kind of short, or at least I have false awakenings and then have false awakenings from those and then think I've woken up. Lately when I've tried to DEILD, I haven't got back to sleep. I think I should try and wake up earlier, so I'm still tired? Maybe? Still, the closest I've gotten to achieving some of my lucid goals were in DEILDs.

Without any 'previous dream' residue or memory whats the best way to transition when deilding? I have had 3 dields where i have awoken and then kept still, and within seconds experience very strong vibrations in head, roaring noises in the ears and very very obvious transitional sensations. I try to seperate / get up but i cant seem to move. After about a minute the vibrations end and im awake missing out on a lucid experience.
Should i simply picture a pre-determined scene and wait for it to build or should i simply practise another way of seperating such as levitation etc

Hey there,
Well for me, the trick is to not focus on the 'strong vibrations and transitional sensations', as these are my body's stimuli associated with me falling asleep. If I pay too much attention to these they just drag me back to wakefulness, same as an alarm clock or a bird pecking at my window. Instead I try to look for hypnagogics, dream images, or sounds, and focus on those. If I manage to shift my attention to them and tune out all the weird body sensations, I find that the hypnagogics get more and more frequent and pronounced, and eventually lead me into a dream (a lucid one if I manage to retain my consciousness).
