Insomnia after SSILD
I tried ssild combined with wbtb for the last few days and got some pretty good results. I wake myself up after 4.5hours of sleep and stay awake for 10-20mins. But every time i performed ssild, its very hard to fall asleep..
It usually takes me 5-10mins to fall asleep but every time i tried ssild i just found myself thinking about random stuff and lying awake for 30mins to an hour :/ I tried staying awake 5-10mins but either i fell asleep while performing ssild or i couldn't sleep after the technique.
Should i try meditating after ssild to calm my mind or would that mess up the whole technique?
Or does anyone have some other advice?
Thanks!

Hey there,
It happens to me quite often too. There's always a risk when trying to WILD or using a technique like SSILD that if I'm already too awake. Then the practice will just waken me up further and make it hard to get back to sleep.
When I do find myself lying awake, I try not to move. Quite often I think I'm quite awake and shuffle around in my bed a lot because I can't find a comfortable position (being too restless). I know from experience if I can just keep still, even if its a bit uncomfortable, I'll be asleep in a few minutes again.
Unfortunately, that doesn't always work, so if that fails, its often a good idea for me to get out of bed for a while and do something relaxing that doesn't require physical exertion (reading something on these forums works great! :)). After 15 mins or so, I return to bed, usually calmed down and less restless, and can resume sleep pretty swiftly again (though know I'll go right back to insomnia if I attempt to WILD a second time at that point).
Hope that helps,

Awesome advice, I'll try this too as I tend to get insomnia after SSILD sometimes :(. It seems to depend on how focused I am during the cycles: heavy focus on cycles = more likely to have DILD after going back to sleep (but harder to fall asleep); light focus on cycles = more likely to WILD (but harder to complete the cycles). That might just be me though
