      Short Late-morning LD

      Hey there.
I occasionally become aware of my dreams in the late morning, and I wish to use this for a LD. The procedure is usually always the same: I'm suddenly realizing I'm dreaming, I'm taking my time with the RCs, sometimes even being able to rub my hands wildly and then usually it's fading out into white (as in I kinda get sucked into something).

I tried lying still (DEILD), but nothing happens at all. It's not an FA for sure, I just know I'm in the real life. This usually happens around the time I usually get up, and I just cannot sleep any longer hence lying around seems pointless (or is it?).

Anyway, I wanted to ask you how to use this brief (my record on this is 10 seconds) moment of lucidity to turn it into something amazing, if that is even possible.

I thank you guys in advance for helping me on my journey, if there is any questions feel free to ask.

Hi, i would say you are on the right way. its normal that the first lucids happen in late morning in the end of the rem cycyles because there you are near waking and your awareness is higher than for example at the beginning of a rem or in mid night. just keep up your daywork, work on your critical awareness and on your mindset. with time your lucids will come more early and more often and then you will have more time doing funny stuff

      btw:
fading out into white (as in I kinda get sucked into something).
doesnt mean necessarily that you are waking up/awake. sometime one falls into "the void". you loose your visual but are still dreaming. it helps when you activate your other senses. talk to someone, move around try to feel something imagine you are swimming or dancing or tasting something. often enough your visuals come back and you are in the dream again. doesnt work always but my mindset is: when it gets dark/light i assume i am still dreaming and not awake because when i expect to wake up i do!
but like i said this happens too at the end of a rem cycles. than it wont help. there only would help to deild but when you say that it is your normal waking time you probably are too rested to fall asleep again.

      Hey there,

RelaxandDream already gave you good advice. Generally speaking, when you're at the end of of a dream cycle and about to wake up, you can sometimes prolong it by making sure you focus your attention on the dream sensations, rather then the waking sensations. By doing so, you can often start a new dream, but it requires a bit of patience. Above all, don't worry about waking up or about the dream ending. Worrying about it shifts your attention to it, which paradoxically causes the very thing you're trying to avoid.

      Just my 2 cents,

Thanks to you two for your advice.
I'm not sure if it truly is the end of the REM phase, but next time I'll try not to worry about 'falling apart'. It usually happens and I usually somehow try to prevent it, and thats probably why it happens in the first place.

Sorry for double-posting, but this happened again!

I was laying in my bed when I looked at my hand - I don't know if those were fingers, but they were definitely more than 5!
So I was like, "hell yeah, lucid in the morning" and pop- whiteout. As soon as I realized I was dreaming, a tingling surge went through my entire body, so that my body felt like it was tingling, shortly followed by the fading thing. I can tell for sure that this time it was not the end of REM, because I fell asleep after this and had dreams again. I admit, I didn't attempt a DEILD, I forgot about it and was pretty tired actually.

Am I too excited about it? It was kinda cool experiencing my first FA, but I usually regain my cool after a moment.

      Hey,

It happens, excitement can certainly cause a dream to end. This tends to happen more frequently when lucidity comes as a surprise, after a failed reality check for instance. Fortunately, you get used to the shock of sudden lucidity after a while, so it doesn't keep waking you.

The above advice still holds, even if excitement causes a dream to end. If you can focus on whatever dream sensations or images you're still getting, no matter how vague or fleeting, it may re-stabilize the dream.

      Happy dreams,

I can tell for sure that this time it was not the end of REM, because I fell asleep after this and had dreams again.
This statement is invalid when you wake up and fall asleep again you begin a new sleepcycle + the later the night the longer the REM phases so you "start dreaming" faster then for example after two hours of sleep. thats the reason why you do you wbtbs after 4-6h and DEILDS and WILDS get easier.
and logic another way round what would happen when you wake up (accidently), fall asleep and wouldnt dream anymore
