meditation tip
I usually get bored when I meditate. I set my goal for 15 or 10 minutes but keep lookin' at my watch because it just feels that I have meditated long enough but when I look at the watch, I realize that I didn't do much. But it feels really really long. Then it gets really boring and just say that I've done enough. TNX.

I wouldn't bother timing it. Just practice emptying your mind while walking to places. Then you don't have to set aside extra time.

I always let a stopwatch count my time, so that I know how long I've been going. I don't like an alarm because I don't like the feeling that at any time I might get shocked by the sound. Also don't worry about the duration of your meditation. At first, doing 5-10 minutes is a big deal and requires decent concentration and willpower, but if you just keep at it, you'll do more and more with almost the same amount of effort. I went from doing 15 minutes to do 30-45 minutes with the same amount of effort within 2 or 3 weeks. Also, just 5 minutes of concentrated practice is very valuable. Don't underestimate 5 minutes :)

I have been using an app lately called Headspace. 10 minute meditation sessions (guided) and there's a new one for each day of the year! You can get the take-10 (10 day meditation series) for free, or you can get the 365 day one by subscribing, or there are other methods to get it....:mwahaha:
Like downloading it and being an honest individual and paying them money. :rolleyes:
I have been meditating for years though, and I think it's really great stuff! You should give it a try. :)

If you try to avoid or escape bored, you have missed the point of meditation. If you feel boredom during meditation, then meditate on boredom. What does it feel like? Where and how, in your body, do you feel it? Why does it create a negative aversion within you? Could you perhaps accept boredom and let it remain in your consciousness, instead of pushing it away? Work through these ideas. If this causes thoughts to arise, accept those. If this causes feelings to arise, accept those. This applies to anything during meditation: frustration, pain, doubt, distraction... anything.
To put it another way, you decide when and how long you meditate. You do not let boredom decide.

Try a countdown timer with a nice subtle alarm at the end.
I have a lot of trouble meditating too but what helps me is playing meditative music in the background and burning incense. One or both of these things helps me relax, feel less agitated and it stops my brain wandering to other thoughts like...."I'm bored already"
