A question for the experienced LD's

Ill get the point and ask the question first.....how powerful and effective are affirmations if thats the right word...or better matras?...i tried once....i sat in a dark room and said the words 'when i wake i will remember my dream'....i repeated the words like 100 times and really thought about the true meaning of what i want anf the words themselves and ofcourse that day after my sleep i remembered a dream quiet alot....coincodence or not it happend and was thankful.....does any of you use mantras...negative or positive feedback will be much appreciated =)

Not really overly experienced, but here goes:

They work good for me, but I need to change the Mantra from time to time and always try to be serious about it. Writing it down a hundred times also worked very well for me, but make sure to not only scribble it down on autopilot, but read every sentence you write down again, preferably out loud. This is my go-to method if I really need to break a dry spell or just plain want to have a LD. That does not completely substitute day work like thinking about LD, making RCs and practising awareness, but it helps a ton.

But... as with every method I've tried so far: don't make it a repetive "tradition" of sort, as the effect will wear off.

Mantras help to focus your intention. so yea it works. when falling asleep it helps me to stay focused on my intention/goal and not to drift away in random thoughts and fall asleep unconsciously.
you need to find your own mantra and connect the right thing with it. when i tell you i use this and that mantra and its awesome it wont work for you probably. theoreticaly a random word like Tabikadu could be a really good working mantra when you connect lucid dreaming with it.

in the end its not about the words but the meaning and what you want accomplish.

Mantras are incredibly effective, and not just for dreams, but for just about everything that has to do with your mind, your body, your emotions. Very powerful stuff! The more you believe, the more powerful they become.

I think that strengthening your belief in mantras is kind of like taking control of your innate ability to control your world. :)

Brilliant responses and im very thankful for all your feedback....is it possible to have 2 mantras or is it best to stick with 1 then move to another one when the first one kicks in? My first mantra ia about remembering my dreams when i wake but i also want a mantra about getting lucid in a dream....im guessing maybe sticking with one first for a week or so? Thankyou =)

you can have two or more for different purpouses but i would stick with one at the beginning to have full intention on one thing and dont get distracted by to many things at once.
your plan sounds good. use it for dreamrecall when it improves it will get easier even without a mantra or intention and then you can focus on lucidity. you also can use your recallmantra when you fall asleep first and then when you wake up at nights use the other one
