Like do they feel like real life?
It greatly varies. Some people have actually said they feel more real than real life, though I don't believe I've experienced this myself.
They feel the same as real life to me.
They appear more than real life as you are not restricted by your eyes! I don't have bad eye sight but everything is a lot clearer.
Colours are generally a bit sharper for me too.
When you wake up from a LD does it feel like it never happened?
To me when I first wake up it feels like it really happened.
Like non LD dreams though the memories fade pretty quickly and the more the day goes on the more dream-like I remember it.
Really? Well then doesn't that make Lucid dreaming kind of pointless if you don't remember it then?
I still remember it but the recall fades a bit quicker for me more than say something exciting that happens whilst awake.
But no it doesn't ruin the experience for me at all. Would you go on a roller coaster to remember how good it was or to enjoy the amazing experience at the time? Even if I can't recall exactly all that happened after I can still recall how awesome it felt.
Cool btw what techniques do you use?
Standard dreams can feel close to or like real life, and lucid ones feel totally real. You can even feel sensations never known to you.
I set a few alarms to wake earlier than I would normally.
One after about 5-6 hours of sleep. I get up and go to the toilet, have a drink of water and try and stay awake for 20-30 mins then go back to sleep and in that next phase of sleep I have more chance of an LD.
When going back to sleep I set the intention of having one and try to think about it as I drift off.
Take a look around your room - that's how vivid a typical "high-quality" lucid dream can be.
This isn't even an overstatement, they do in fact literally sometimes feel that vivid, and sometimes even more than that.
In fact, I have sometimes had lucid dreams where I have started to feel unsure that I was actually dreaming, because everything was so similar to waking life that it was hard to tell any differences. :cheeky:
Like for example, I could be in my kitchen at home and everything on the shelves would look completely normal, with brand names written on them and everything.
The only thing that made me confident that I was dreaming was that I suddenly noticed that there was a huge lake right outside my window, and also strange-looking trees in unusual places.
Hmmm... dreams fade as quickly as waking life in my opinion. What did you do 2 Tuesdays ago? If it was something awesome, you might remember it vividly, if not, then i might forget it. Differences being that I tell people about my dreams and make a point to remember it. So two weeks ago I had a dream about the Zoldycks from Hunter x Hunter. I was at their big house and they were coming to kill me. I wasn't afraid, but I didn't feel like fighting, so I had to become invisible. It took me about 30 second to think of a logical way to turn invisible. And I used a mirror to become invisible. Forcing my reflection to take all of my opacity and then I walked through a window. The glass grabbed ahold of me like it was Hisokas bungee gum power and I made it let go of me near the ground 30 feet down (it slowed me down by being super stretchy). It was super fun and vivid trying to get away from people without being afraid, just like living a video game.
I had another dream a few weeks ago that I was goku and I had traveled to the future. I realized I was dreaming and went around a futuristic mall flying and fighting everyone in sight. It was so awesome.
I guess the only way to describe it would be if you have gone and done something like skydiving? It is like that.
I was getting ready to quit LDing a long time ago and then I found out about persistent realms and characters. This kept me here. Being able to continue quests and hang out with DCs night after night is definitely worth it.

Persistent dream realms are nice because you can meet the same person and continue the same quests each night. Zödra is my dream world, and I have quite a few friends and favorite places to go to.
I generally don't post, but it doesn't seem like anyone posted anything to make you want to continue lding. They are just as real as if you realized right now that everything around you is a dream. It can be blurry or hard to remember. But it can also be more vivid than waking, and more memorable. I don't like using the word "real", because dreams are real, they are just "real dreams" waking and sleeping, it can be more vivid and aware than waking or less. You can also change it during the dream just like you can change how aware you are in waking.
To me it depends on how much of your attention you focus into it. Like if your walking down the street and notice all the angles of the sunlight filtering through the trees and the cars going by. Listen to the birds and the wind. And how it feels on your hands and face.
That real. I usually make a dial appear and then slowly crank up the settings.
Also how much attention to you pay to the details as a default.
dream quality varies extensively, I have had blurry lucids and crystal clear ones,
Sometimes in a non-lucid I'll be thinking if only I could dream like this... then I wake up :) he he :)
usually the most vivid dreams happen at the last cycle of the night, or when your napping with plenty of sleep
but lucidity (level of awareness), vividness, stability, and ability to control are all independent in my experience
